Kreuzberg Lyrics

There is a wall that runs right through me
Just like the city, I will never be joined
What is this love? Why can I never hold it?
Did it really run out in the strangers' bedrooms?

I
I have decided
At twenty-five
Something must change

Saturday night in East Berlin
We took the U-Bahn to the East Side Gallery
I was sure I'd found love with this one lying with me
Crying again in the old bahnhof

I
I have decided
At twenty-five
That something must change

After sex
The bitter taste
Been fooled again
The search continues

this wonderful song focusses the feeling to be a half (the wall splits the city), being on the search but without success... trying to find the other part ...but... you are still alone!

not about Berlin. ironically, it's about the town of Kruezberg which was much like Berlin actually, more like Verona. two diffrent areas the north-eastern 'SO36' part and the south-west 'SW61'. still there I think though the areas are reconciled.

yeah, well apart from that, I think he's talking about just sleeping with one meaningless person after another, tricking himself into thinking he has real feelings for them. and the finally realising he has to change.

nice song, too.

Kreuzberg was a formerly run-down (now renovated) area of west Berlin. The wall which he talks about describes the Berlin Wall and this emphasises the separation in his heart. Also, 'saturday night, in east Berlin we took the U-Bahn.' So clearly he is talking about Berlin. The name of the song 'Kreuzberg' is simply thus becasue he was staying there when he wrote the song.

I think it's something similar to what uncommon valor stated. It is about failed relationships, obviously. Like, he is searching for love, and believing he's found it, only to find out that, when it ends, it was nothing but infatuation. It's a very deep song. Definitely a tune you could listen to while trying to get over a failed relationship.

And, if you follow what he's saying, he's not talking about giving up. But, rather continuing his search to grasp a hold of true love and not the poppy media crap that isn't and never will be real. It's just, he plans to go about it more sensibly.

Plus, it's rather intriguing that this song precedes "I Still Remember" on the track list.

Kele said in an interview that Kreuzberg is about being a human that wants to love. On the one hand, he just wants to fuck around and go out and party on the other hand, the only thing, means something to him is intimacy with another woman/man. and this is not meant sexually

This song certainly describes how I feel about Berlin. Once you get there it is like an ordinary European metropolis, but once you start walking around it, a certain likeness forms inside you, you begin to fall in love with everything in this city, even a girl you meet. The wall is used as a metaphor to show every foreigners' feelings of how one of their part belongs to this city, Berlin, a city in which they have spent few days, and the other which belongs to where they hail from. You become unsure of what your heart tells you. I bet that every person that have visited Berlin feels like this, like they are in a state of limbo.

I think that's one of the best if not the best song on the new album.

i think it's definitely about striving to find true love. especially the last verse "be fooled again, the search continues" like he keeps thinking he's found it but then realises he hasn't

love this one, favorite off the new CD so far. I like the end repeat, cos it could be interpreted as those he is trying to love don't know how to do so properly, or that he himself wasn't taught how to love when he was younger... I dunno. Amazing song.
