Window in the Skies Lyrics
The shackles are undone
The bullet's quit the gun
The heat that's in the sun
Will keep us when it's done
The rule has been disproved
The stone, it has been moved
The grain is now a grove
All debts are removed
Oh, can't you see what love has done
Oh, can't you see what love has done
Oh, can't you see what love has done
What it's doing to me
Love makes strange enemies
Makes love where love may please
Soul in its striptease
Hate brought to its knees
The sky over our head
We can reach it from our bed
If you let me in your heart
And out of my head
Oh, can't you see what love has done
Oh, can't you see what love has done
Oh, can't you see what love has done
What it's doing to me
Please don't ever let me out of here
I've got no shame
Oh no, oh no
Oh, can't you see what love has done
Oh, can't you see
Oh, can't you see what love has done
What it's doing to me
Oh, can't you see what love has done
I know I hurt you and I made you cry
Oh, can't you see what love has done
Did everything but murder you and I
Oh, can't you see what love has done
But love left a window in the skies
Oh, can't you see what love has done
And to love I raphsodize
Oh, can't you see what love has done
To every broken heart
Oh, can't you see what love has done
For every heart that cries
Oh, can't you see what love has done
Love left a window in the skies
Oh, can't you see what love has done
And to love I raphsodize
Oh, can't you see
The bullet's quit the gun

Catchy song. The meaning's quite straightfoward. Another U2 song with a spiritual theme. It's all about God's love. If you listen closely, it almost sounds like Bono's singing 'Oh can't you see what the Lord has done' during the first chorus.
If it doesn't sound like Bono to you, then you need to listen to more U2, sorry but there are obvious moments.
Yeah, i think it's a great song, the meaning is fairly obvious, love is the window to god.
Also, the guy who said U2 need to branch out, are you having a laugh, they've branched out plenty in their career, if the albums are still good im happy.
iluvot, exactly :] my english is very poor! I can recognize bono's voice in a million voices :P
I'm fairly impressed with this song, as it has a nice Beatles-esque quality about its structure and seems to be a gentle landing after their stadium rock album HTDAAB. I just hope that their next studio album doesn't take on the same tone as this tune; it fits too well in the ATYCLB era. They need to branch out again and experiment a little, not stick with the same tried-and-true sound.
I believe Setubalense was tryign to say that the didn't believe this was U2 at first and the only way they recognized it was because they could recognize Bono's voice.
anywho, i actually like this song, mainly the chorus but all in all a pretty good song
oh well... if I didn't recognize Bono's voice, I wouldn't say that this song was written and performed by U2. I didn't like it :(

Wow.... this is one of the most bizarre songs U2's ever written, right up there with "Hold Me Thrill Me" and "Numb," but obviously not for the same reason. It's bizzare, it sounds like a cover of a 70s pop ballad that you'd hear as a b-side or something. The closest they've probably ever done to that is probably the album Rattle and Hum or the song "Red Hill Mining Town" from Joshua Tree. Regardless of the wierdness, its a great song, and I actually wouldnt mind an album of that kind of sound (note the singular, I wouldnt want them going that direction for too long, or they'd probably lose the sound I love them for). Can't wait to hear the new album!
I like this song. It's very ATYCLB style U2. By the way, it should be:
The heat that's in the sun Will keep us when there's none
Setubalense , woah, get some U2 into ur head. I bet you wouldn't recognise his voice in I Still Haven't FOund What I'm Looking For....
I always thought the title was Window In The Sky? or maybe its just me? And I think we've established that this song is about.... Love. Teehee
