Change Of Heart Lyrics
Spring brought the two together
Married the wind with the fire
Under the secrecy of lush birch trees
Opposite hearts became one
One day followed another
Weeks passed, months lapsed
Until wind grew to a storm
And fire to a burning pile
Cold gust of whirlwind
Fiery flames, burning sharp
Adoration all too strong pushed the two apart
Different from the start
Fate that never was written in the stars
Led to a change of hearts
The fall split the one in two
Under the pouring rain
Dressed them both in loneliness
And led to their separate ways
The fire could not be tamed with the wind
Or the wind suppressed by the flames
As blending the light with the dark
Merely results in grey
Married the wind with the fire
Under the secrecy of lush birch trees
Opposite hearts became one
Weeks passed, months lapsed
Until wind grew to a storm
And fire to a burning pile
Fiery flames, burning sharp
Adoration all too strong pushed the two apart
Fate that never was written in the stars
Led to a change of hearts
Under the pouring rain
Dressed them both in loneliness
And led to their separate ways
Or the wind suppressed by the flames
As blending the light with the dark
Merely results in grey

I agree that Insomnium do indeed have melodic death metal down to a fine art, every song they have crafted is purely amazing.
Interpretation: This song is a metaphor for the union and separation of a relationship. The two people are referred to as "wind" and "fire", two opposing forces joined for a brief moment in harmony. But, unfortunately, "wind grew to a storm/and fire to a burning pile", and the couple separated unhappily.
The simplicity of these lyrics really drive home the message behind them. I commend Insomnium on an amazing musical career, and wish them the best in future ventures.
Wow...the melody in this song is awesome. Kick ass lyrics too. Insomnium definitely has the Melodic Metal genre perfected
i could not have said it any better, padshiyangel.. their simplicity is amazing!
to call Insomnium gods still wouldn't do justice to them
This song especially resonates with me because of my past relationship...I was the fire, he was the wind. According to our zodiac signs, heh. May sound silly, but it was those personality traits that pushed us apart.
I miss him...
