Val Kilmer Lyrics

I always thought my movie
would be a comedy
not quite the tragedy that its become
more slapstick than chickflick
more Caddyshack than Breakfast At Tiffany's

So, thank me at the podium for a lifetime of contribution
turn on the cameras
someone cue the extras
hair and makeup to the set

because the big screen's callin
final casting call
its your big shot baby your the next big star
of another stupid movie 'bout a guy with a broken heart
who's fallin apart
your headed for the cutting room floor
and in the sequel honey i'm the guy who gets the girl

so if you miss my movie
get the DVD
check out the chemistry
between you and me
less Raising Arizona
more Steel Magnolias
so when you walk down that red carpet
I hope you trip and fall
I hope someone squirts you with a watergun
a super soaker filled with pee

because the big screen's callin
final casting call
its your big shot baby your the next big star
of another stupid movie about a guy with a broken heart
who's fallin apart
your headed for the cutting room floor
and in the sequel honey i'm the guy who gets the girl

all apologies
to Kevin Costner and that chick from Monster
give me Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Belushi and even Val Kilmer
he was funny in 'Real Genius'

~Greg~
What about 'Top Gun'?
~Jaret~
No, 'Top Gun' wasn't funny
~Greg~
Whatever

top secret was funny too
But he sucked as Batman

because the big screen's callin
final casting call
of another stupid movie about a guy with a broken heart
who's fallin apart
your headed for the cutting room floor
and in the sequel honey i'm the guy who gets the girl

To me, this song is about how people seem great at first, but when a better guy/girl/anything comes around ("Because the big screen's calling, final casting call"), they might use you to get there ("So, thank me at the podium for a lifetime of contribution"), and to put it bluntly, it sucks ("Would be a comedy, not quite the tragedy, that its become").

But great song. Definitely one of my favorite BFS songs! Love the band!

Gah. Can't believe I left out part of what I meant to say. Lol. ><

...and to put it bluntly, it sucks ("Would be a comedy, not quite the tragedy, that its become"). But in the end, you may actually come out the winner as you get something better yourself ("And in the sequel, honey, I'm the guy who gets the girl!")

Wish there was an edit option. If there is, I'm just stupid/blind. Lol. Anyway, still a great song! ^^;;

this song is brilliant. i dont think it has any hidden meaning though, i mean its basically about what it says its about. the only double meaning might be that hes poking fun at all chick flicks and holleywood in general along with the actors and actresses, and hes also relating it to himself and his relationships. pretty clever.

I think it's just about some girl dumping him for her career, like he never meant anything, and how much it hurt him.

basically, girl dumps guy. he's ''falling apart'', but he assures her he'll get the girl in the end, whether its her or someone else :)
