Amateur Lovers Lyrics
Yeah, alright
Everyone I know needs love like drugs
Like a common cold we could never shrug
My baby and me
We're missing the same stuff
We've all got a disease
Deficiency of love
Every day we still try
Every night we still cry
Driving home on the 805
We don't know what we're doing
We do it again
We're just amateur lovers with amateur friends
I can tell you what you're thinking now
Before you think it you can settle down
We don't know what were doing
Let's do it again
Let's do it again
You try to play it down
But it never stuck
I tried to bail this town
I'm getting no such luck, yeah
When nobody's around
I keep my eyes on the clock
There ain't a cure I've found
In all my times around this block
Everyday we still try
Every night we still cry
We drive it home on the 405
We don't know what we're doing
We do it again
We're just amateur lovers with amateur friends, yeah
I can tell you what you're thinking now
Before you think it you can settle down
We don't know what we're doing
Let's do it again, yeah
Let's do it again
Let's do it again
We don't know what we're doing
Let's do it again, yeah
You know
We're just amateur lovers with amateur friends
I can tell you what you're thinking now
Before you think it you can settle down
Our loving isn't gonna burn us out
We don't know what we're doing
Let's do it again, yeah
Let's do it again, yeah
Let's do it again, alright
Let's do it again

well, you cant say that it cant be about god's love and Christianity. after all the band members are Christians so what they write comes from their beliefs. if their lyrics are true then who are the professionals? if we're amateur lovers that means there has to be someone that knows true love. to me that one person is God and we we can only learn that through him.
These are the clips on the website. I'm changing all these to the full songs when the CD comes out.
All of the lyrics will be up tomorrow
honestly, one of the most honest song ever written. its truth. we are just amatuer lovers and we dont know what we're doing. we need to learn to how to love others as God loves us.
Amen, you did it agian..
I don't like this song much. The lyrics are pretty good, the verses are fun and upbeat, but the chorus breaks everything. I think this is the only Switchfoot song I've been disappointed in ever.
I absolutely dont get this song. And thats weird. ??? Somebody help me out?
first of all, it shouldnt be the sound of the song that u should worry about, its the msg u get from it. for Bredders, this song is pretty much straight forward honesty. we dont know what love is and we do it again. as in we do what we think love is as apposed to Truth, God's love is real love, there is a bit of sarcasm in this song when he says lets go it again, meaning our community is literally so stupid and we do it again. we're just amateur lovers with amateur friends. if u need me to go into depth a bit more just comment here again.
^the sound is as important as the message, if not more important. music isn't words, its sound. poetic lyrics are just a bonus. and i think this song is great musically. i love the merry guitars. lyrically, great use of sarcasm to say what we're doing to ourselves is unhealthy - we need to learn to love and stop being so professional with each other. i love the amateur vs. professional irony.
and burreyeant i don't know where you get the idea that the song's talking about god's love - why are people so quick to christianize the lyrics? this is straight up rock'n'roll.
there are always people that will listen to a song for so much more than how it sounds. yes sound its important but not as nearly as important as the message. as for some bad as in (evil song) the message is important in that it isnt good and we shouldnt listen to that stuff. as to a good song with an amazing message i could listen to that song all day even if it had the worst sound in the world. i could careless about how it sounds as to what it talks about. maybe you dont see how it relates to God's love because your not fulling grasping the meaning or you have your own interpretation. but i dont criticize you for any of that, its your belief and i'll respect that.
