Creep In The Cellar Lyrics
And he eats in the alley and keeps track of my sins
When he starts talking backwards your head starts to spin
And he really freaks me out when he peels off his skin
There's a hole in his brain where his mind should have been
When he starts rubbin' wrinkles he gets pretty thin
When he starts talkin' nickelback, diamondback, muscleback
And he lies to his mother but she doesn't care
Well the fish are flying backwards and they're all in dispare
Cause the turkey's talkin' backwards, it'll raise up your hair
this is a freakin amazing song, i dont know where they got this idea from but the lies from his mother i dont know sounds more like maybe him as a child or something
I get the feeling it's about saying yes to evil.
@sydbarrett5 Yes, He wakes it up and he freaks out seeing or/and understanding it, and it doesn't matter whether you re a man or a woman, it changes into your shape as if by magic (talking backwards) or shedding skin (peeling) but then there is this carefree sometimes happy connotation sensed in rhythm and violin solos that implies welcoming it and accepting it!

I've listened to this song hundreds of times over the past 20 years. To me it sounds like a double of himself, a counter-personality/split-personality who surfaces when drugs are consumed. It's like a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, with Mr. Hyde as "the creep" he let's in (i.e. the creep who takes over upon consumption of a drug). The song is written by the clear-minded Dr. Jekyll, however perhaps he's consumed so many drugs and spent so much time as Mr. Hyde that the hallucinogenic images have infused Dr. Jekyll's speech and destroyed his logic. At any rate, this song is Dr. Jekyll just about to consume that familiar drug and take that trip (as Mr. Hyde) which he knows so well. It's a self-awareness of the confrontation (with the creep, himself) that he's about to subject himself to.
What I'm getting is an acknowledgment of the subconscious primitive "id" that lives in all of us, and resolving to be up front about it, instead of hypocritically living in denial as expected of "civilized" "sane" people. The singer holds no illusions that it's safe or cuddly, but they're going to confront it head on and be real about it. Perhaps it's let out through psychedelic drugs, similar to what crackhead11 was saying.
there is no meaning.
