This is a really beautiful song. Unfortunately, the lyrics here aren't completely accurate and I think some are missing.

Here is my take on the meaning of the lyrics:

This song is about someone who is in love with another person who is troubled, who has been burned. But this person makes them happy (the stars clear the black of night when I'm with you)... and they in turn want to take this person away and show them happiness and everything they ever wanted.

The song isn't literal -- he isn't talking about being famous like a celebrity. He is equating the concept of being like the stars in the sky -- the stars that clear the black of night -- to being a "star" (famous). It is an interesting play on words.

^^I don't know. On ML's myspace there was a news article that said "That's just the thing about Madina Lake. Everyone wants to be famous." Unless that line, and this song is a coincidence, I do think it's literal.

Whoever this guy is, it's obvious he and Adalia want to escape Madina Lake. I think Adalia wants to get famous, literally, and this guy is just trying to make her feel better.

but adalia already is famous, in the town of madina lake. considering its after Pandora on the CD, hes talking to pandora. she seems like the type to want attention, and shes suckered this guy into helping her get it... ie; killing adalia....

This is such a powerful song...

I think that this is about two teenagers in Madina Lake. The girl is Adalia. And as others said - she wants to be famous, not only in the little town.

They're sneaking out of town, perhaps. Both go to the top of the hill - there Adalia sees the last of Madina Lake. He's nervous because he know what he's going to do to her. But he convinces her that they're running away, he's telling her such pretty words...

She's already too sure that they're going to leave it all behind. It sounds like she had some problems there. She just needed that little push to do it. They're running to the bright lights... the stars.

He kills her... She can't live with that dream - he won't let her. But he feels guilt and says to himself that she won't feel the pain. He's hiding her body in water... Maybe that's why the kids are searchin her there in "Here I Stand". She's gone in the water with her dream of immortality... She really wanted to be famous...
