My interpretation of this song is he is trying to forget about a person, that either he loved or they loved him, but it's hard because he's full of "side effects", so to speak. Whatever happened has become part of him, and he cannot forget it.
I think, that he's high, like to forget a girl who he can't stop thinking about...for me that's why he says "set me free, I'm not the one" So, that kind of a sickness is the side effect of his love. This is what this song means to me...
