Mothership Lyrics

go tell all your friends that this is the end
go tell all your friends that this is the end
go tell all your friends that this is the end
this is the end

i don't understand a word you're saying
what are the clouds running from?
there's something in the air tonight
something is wrong, spit it out!

I just fell from the mothership
(they said that)
your answers they're always lying on the ocean bed
your answers they're always lying on the ocean bed

there's something in the air
there's something in the air
(in the air, in the air)
tonight, i'm wide awake, i'm wide awake
(in the air, in the air, woah...)
tonight, i'm wide awake, i'm wide awake

and i'll plead with a thousand voices

I am sane! I am sane!
my soul felt so save up there
no self centered natives destroying our earth

I just fell from the mothership
(they said that)
your answers, were always lying on the ocean bed
your answers (your answers, your answers), were always lying on the ocean bed

walk the plank! walk the plank! walk the plank!
walk the plank! walk the plank! walk the plank!
WALK THE PLANK!

your answers were always lying on the ocean bed
your answers were always lying on the ocean bed
your answers were always lying on the ocean bed
your answers were always lying on the ocean bed

The song starts out 'Go Tell All Your Friends That This Is The End' and is either from the PoV of the aliens or from the PoV of the main character OF THIS SONG. The main character of this song is someone who was abducted from the same aliens who are invading again (think Independence Day) and he was cast off as insane. But now the aliens have invaded, reclaiming the Earth, and he's telling other humans that "We're screwed," pretty much =P

"What Are The Clouds Running From?" I think the Mothership is entering Earth, and this causes some environmental differences. The sky clears and everything. Hence "Something is wrong. Spit it out."

The chorus is sung from the PoV of the abducted person. Quite self-explanatory.

"THere's something in the air... Tonight I'm wide awake'' etc. I think this could also be from the PoV of the abducted person. I think he's laying in bed remembering his experience with the aliens when he was abducted before, about his feelings when he was in the Mothership - and now he's feeling the same feelings again, as if the Mothership has returned - which it has!!

"I Am Sane. I Am Sane." He is defending his sanity. After he was abducted, people branded him insane - but now the aliens are here.

"My Soul Felt So Safe Up There, No Self-Centred Natives Destroying Our Earth" I think the main character is finding himself with the aliens. Seeing things from their PoV. So he sees himself on their side now, because he felt 'normal' when he was with them.

Basically, this guy gets abducted. He tells people about it but is branded insane - this all happened before this album began. Now, the album has begun and the aliens are back again and are invading the Earth and Humanity. The guy finally realises he felt safer with the aliens than with the humans, so he sees himself as one of them. He knows he wasn't insane, but he felt saner than ever when he was in the mothership.

I love concept albums... =)

maybe a guys whos an out cast, hes alienated (fell form the mothership) people tell him, hes from the mothership too. he lays awake at nigh because of it. more like schoolyard bullys, tell him hes crazy (and an alien) it seems there are thousands of people against him bullying him when its really just a few in his face all the time (you know the scene in movies where its all blurry and vioces echo and overlap) kids telling him to "walk the plank" either die or its soem kind of bullying 'game'

maybe the guys is insane though, he lays awake at night hearing voices, trys to tell the voices and/or him self hes not insane.

or a guy wondering about his origins, fell from the mother ship, searches for the answers on the ocean bed ie hell never know, theyre unreachable, feels hell never know

it coude be one two or a bit of all three, we may never know ; )

Hmm, Well, thinking about it. I think it may be to do with pirate. Mothership would be the boat name i guess. Walk the plank could be litteral. I think the idea is that they actually walk the plank. then i think "I just fell from the mothership" would mean them falling from the plank and they find all there answers on the ocean bed, as in everything is answered and sorted after they had died, and suck to the ocean bed, i guess. But i dont know. Just an idea xx

im pretty sure its

"what are the CROWDS running from"

sounds logical

and im not sure if this songs about polution

"walk the plank"

kinda sounds like an actual alien invasion, and there sacrificing humans

since ES are pretty atmospheric and almost "spacey" themselves, this kinda fits there persona

x
