Crossfire Lyrics

I'd rather take a shot in the chest than take a shot in the back
At least I'll see it coming
And I'll know where I'm standing at
To get shot down by your own is such a crying shame
So watch your back no matter what side you take
You've got me caught up in a crossfire

I'm caught in a crossfire
It feels like a suicide
The heat's closing in on me
When it's down to the wire
Your life on the line
Will you save me from this chaos surrounding me?

You call yourself a soldier
But you've never put your toe to the line
Cause when the banner flies, you're too afraid to ride
You hang me out to dry
You never rendezvous
Eyes in the back of my head
They'll be watching you
You've got me caught up in a crossfire

I'm caught in a crossfire
It feels like a suicide
The heat's closing in on me
When it's down to the wire
Your life on the line
Will you save me from this chaos surrounding me?

I would take death before I deny you
I would cheat death just to stand by you
I would fear death if I couldn't see you
I would take death before I deny you
Death before deny

I'm caught in a crossfire
It feels like a suicide
The heat's closing in on me
When it's down to the wire
Your life on the line
Will you save me from this chaos surrounding me?
Surrounding me
This chaos surrounding me
Surrounding me

I actually think this song is talking about where you stand in your faith. Either you're with God or you're not. No sitting on the fence.

"I'd rather take a shot in the chest Than take a shot in the back At least I'll see it coming And I'll know where I'm standing at To get shot down by your own is such a crying shame So watch your back no matter what side you take"

  • In other words, I need to know where I stand rather than changing here and there. "To get show down by your own" in my opinion is "shooting yourself in the foot." "It feels like a suicide" remember.

"I'm caught in a crossfire It feels like a suicide The heat's closing in on me When it's down to the wire Your life on the line Will you save me from this Chaos surrounding me"

  • You've got two choices, pick one or the other. The time is coming so you need to make a final choice. Your life depends on it.

"You call yourself a soldier But you've never put your toe to the line Cause when the banner flies You're too afraid to ride You hang me out to dry You never rendezvous Eyes in the back of my head They'll be watching you You've got me caught up in a crossfire"

  • This is where the fence comes in. You say you're a Christian and act like it on Sundays, but the rest of the week you sure don't act like one. You're lukewarm.

"I would take death before I deny you I would cheat death just to stand by you I would fear death if I couldn't see you I would take death before I deny you Death before deny"

  • I've made my choice, I'm sticking with you God. No matter what the case, no matter what the troubles, pain, and problems that come my way. I'll stick it through.

I think this song is about how christians are stuck in the world today like they are stuck in a crossfire between heaven and hell. i think the whole first stanza is about how in the world noone can really trust anyone. "You call yourself a soldier But you've never put your toe to the line Cause when the banner flies You're too afraid to ride" To me this part means you call yourself a christian but u never do anything to back it up, cause when asked or people are talking about it you are too afraid to confess........ it's one of my favorites for sure by pillar... love the meaning behind it..

He's in a battle, and is counting on his allies to back him up, and not stab him in the back. "I'd rather take a shot in the chest than a shot in the back." He was doing something simple, and ended up in... well... A crossfire. His life and his allies lives are on the line, and he wants to be saved from the mortal world. The chaos surrounding him is too large to define.
