Bama Breeze Lyrics
At the Bama Breeze
You can shoot some pool down there
You can act a fool down there
You can play it cool down there
At the Bama Breeze
You can drink some beer down there
Argue, laugh, and cheer down there
Pass another year down there
Jimmy got caught smoking a joint
Out behind the bar
Sittin' in his car
And they took him to jail
The tip jar paid his bail
In 1984 Mick Jagger
Passed through town
Bought the house a round
Signed his name on the wall
In the ladies bathroom stall... yeah
At the Bama Breeze
I turned 21 down there
Had too much fun down there
Stumbled out with the sun down there
Saturday night the bouncer Grady
Lets the ladies in free with the fake I.D
And the short-enough skirt
Yeah figures what the hell could it hurt
Second set the owner Lulu
Get's up with the band
A beer in her hand
And sings "Freebird" slow
Then she raises a toast
Here's to Ronnie and the boys
Now everybody make some noise!
At the Bama Breeze
You're one of our own down there
You never drink alone down there
Good God I feel at home down there
At the Bama Breeze
You're one of our own down there
You never drink alone down there
Good God I feel at home down there
You can shoot some pool down there
You can act a fool down there
You can play it cool down there
You can drink some beer down there
Argue, laugh, and cheer down there
Pass another year down there
Out behind the bar
Sittin' in his car

this reminds me of the song "copacabana".. it's about a place where you cahn just kick back and hang out and have a fun time, where nobody has a care in the world.. at the end where he says "You're one of our own down there, you never drink alone down there.. good god I feel at home down there" I love that.
Jimmy wrote this song as a tribute to all of the local beach bars and dives that were destroyed in the tragic hurricane seasons of 2004-05. The video was shot in the ruins of the Firedog Saloon right off South Beach Blvd in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi. This area was one of the worst hit during Katrina and the people of the Mississippi still need our help to restore the infrastructure and get the ball rolling to rebuild better and stronger than before. http://www.firedogsaloon.com/ http://www.gulfcoastnews.com/
Schoolboysheart, you have a lot to learn my friend... First off, the video to this song WAS indeed shot in the Firedog Saloon in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Photos from Jimmy's visit can be seen on their website as well as the Margaritaville website. In fact, in part of the video, Jimmy is actually on part of the Bay St. Louis Bridge, which was destroyed by Katrina's storm surge. Second, the FloraBama is actually in Florida, as the state line is to the west of the building, making it impossible for it to be in both states at once. So that whole thing about half the bar being closed at 1:00 a.m. and the other at 2:00 is false. The FloraBama's address is 17401 Perdido Key Drive, Pensacola, Florida. There is also a post statement at the end of the music video, stating the dedication to all the little beach bars along the Gulf that were destroyed. Furthermore, the FloraBama is currently under reconstruction due to damage from the past few hurricane seasons, so it is, in fact, not gone, but very much alive. The next time you decide to try and prove somebody wrong, please make sure that they are not smarter than you, like I have proven to be, or at the very least have your facts straight. http://www.florabama.com
"The next time you decide to try and prove somebody wrong, please make sure that they are not smarter than you, like I have proven to be, or at the very least have your facts straight." THANK YOU, gmaniac6899! I, for one, appreciate your having all of the facts straight! Schoolboy hasn't had much to say since you posted the 411, so to speak. :-) Thanks for doing us all a big favor!

Maybe that's because gmaniac posted a reply two months after schoolboy did. Lets see you reply to my comment that was posted one year later.

i dont know who the last two posters are, but ...1: if jimmy knew u compared him to barry manilow, he d slap u himself, and 2: this song is about a particular bar on the alabama/florida line called the florabama thats where it was filmed too...florida is on eastern time and alabama is on central time so at 2am est 1/2 the bar is closed and you can only drink on the side of the bar in alabama...at least thats the way it was before the hurricane...now its gone
