Thru With The Twostep Lyrics

Dance by me close, tell 'em all to go
One's for the money, but I'm through with the show
Move with me gently, oh so slow
Hold me and maybe we'll never let go, never let go
I'm through with sneakin' and cutting it close
Through with the two-step, where the rhythm is lost
Through with the two-step, where the rhythm is lost
Oh, yes, it's love in any key
You opened up the door, now I know it's got to be

Now my cards on the table, hands on the deck
Now A is for able, no words, pause for breath
My willing baby, now can't you see
Little girl, it's not for me
So you waltzed into my life, one two three
Warmth up your smile, oh let it please be me, please let it be me
You swish and swirl, oh, swing and sway
Stay till the sun comes, and don't go away

Pretty clearly a song about someone having an affair, and deciding to leave their marriage for the lover.

The 'two-step' is all the rigmarole you have to go through to be together and not get caught. "I'm through with sneaking" [around] "And cutting it close" [nearly getting caught] "You opened up the door/Now I know it's got to be" I have to end my marriage and be with you instead. "Now my cards on the table" I'm going to tell my wife and 'put all my cards on the table' so to speak.

Some lines are wrong. . .it's "Warmth of your smile/Let it please be me" that is, let me the cause for your warm smile. It's also "Through with the two-step/Where the rhythm is lost" as you can clearly hear in bootlegs from Plant's 1983 tour.

metiphorical based on an experience in a brothel. song is saying that: I no longer want to play the pre-relational dance and I am giving it my all to this relationship. Anyone one else that is interested needs to leave us to be alone. Love me with the dance of love with the same chemistry that was used on the dance floor. Love song of hope and not wanting to be half hearted or play games with love anymore. Let's commit to this relationship because I am seriously infatuated with you.
