@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
And I open my eyes
As the sun leaves the western sky
Precious memory dies
Once again you are here at my side
Blow wind blow
Through my heart let the four winds blow
And I'm back on the hill
Yes you've gone but you're with me still
Now I'm way down the line
Yes you're gone but you're still on my mind
Blow wind blow
Through my heart let the four winds blow
I've been walking with strangers and talking all out of my mind
While the dogs in the manger, elusive and so hard to find
Conversations with angels, I seek the dimensional key
I been wheeling and dealing whatever will bring you to me
Blow wind blow
Through my heart let the four winds blow
Blow wind blow
Through my heart let the four winds blow
I've been walking with strangers and talking all out of my mind
Now the dogs in the manger, elusive and so hard to find
Conversations with angels, I seek the dimensional key
I been wheeling and dealing whatever will bring you to me
As the sun leaves the western sky

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,
Magical

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms.
“Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.

I really don't know if you're supposed to take this song literally. Sounds like the persons is a bit insane, which is really good for music....LOL.
The song also has a western/rock/eerie/ kind of feel to it. To me, it's like someone is standing in line to heaven searching for someone.
Yeah he was waiting for someone for a long time and now he is with her now that he is in heaven.
Cool Song!
what does he mean when he refers to "the four winds"?
Ezekiel 37:9 - Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
From Wikipedia: "Within the system of Thelema founded by Aleister Crowley in 1904, the Holy Guardian Angel is the "Silent Self", representative of one's truest divine nature."... "Even though the HGA is, in a sense, the “higher self”, it is often experienced as a separate being, independent from the adept. In the system of Thelema, the single most important goal is to consciously connect with one’s HGA, a process termed “Knowledge and Conversation.” By doing so, the magician becomes fully aware of his own True Will."
I'm still working on "dimensional key" maybe the Key of Solomon?
The Four Winds - A. Crowley
As a Thelemite (or, would you prefer Thelemic Magician), I agree with so much of what is said above. So all I want to add is a simple reminder that "Four Sticks" (the song off the fourth LZ album) is titled "four sticks" because (simply) Bonzo played that song using Four drum sticks. In the song "Liars Dance," by Robert Plant, there's a reference to "let the four winds blow" in this song that I feel is about the potential for a LZ reunion ("we won't be back again"). I believe the "eerie tune" etc is artistic license evoking a "seance" feel.

This song, as all good works of poetry, has many layers. One layer to me is that this is sung to the dead friend (best friend at that) of Robert Plant, John Bonham. Another layer is that I love what is said about the HGA and now I'm taking that too 100%. Finaly, the most poetic of layers - it means what it personally means to you.
On January 25, 1980 Robert Plant, Jimmy Page & Roy Harper performed a mystic call. It resulted in calling a then 17 year old high school girl. She was to be Robert's Wife/Partner. She can see the past, present & future. They did not care about the impact. She was not an initiate of magick. The price of this operation was life for death and death for life. They did not heed this & the house took its payment 9 months to the date. In 2001 the young woman attempted to reconcile the balance, but Robert threw her away. This song was an attempt to call her to manifestation and reconcile his spirit & heart; but because of his rejection of her, it will never be. His wife is a line of failed relationships including the current one he is in.
