Post-War Lyrics

Don't they love you in mysterious ways
You say yeah but this is now and that was then
Put a dollar into the machine and you'll remember when

I know when everything feels wrong
I've got some hard, hard proof in this song
I'll know when everything feels right
Some lucky night
Some lucky night

Say the money just ain't what it used to be
Man how we used to tear apart this town
Put a dollar into the machine and you'll remember how

I know when everything feels wrong
I've got some hard, hard proof in this song
I'll know when everything feels right
Some lucky night
Some lucky night

I once did shrooms and listened to this song and life was never the same. I started being this song. I was in a phone booth and I walked out into this desolate town and looked around at everyone and no one looked into me, just at me. And I started to make snow angels in the street. It was a beautiful fantasy.

Does it sound like Billie Holiday at the end of the song, or is it just me? I looked up whether she'd ever sung anything with the words "Some Lucky Night." What came up was this fabulous song called "Travellin' Light," but when she says "Some Lucky Night" it sounds nothing like the "some lucky night" in this song. Check out "Travellin' Light" though.

It seems to be about someone returning from war and finding everything different. He wishes it could return to the way it was.

This song just makes my head swim. It feels like it was recorded twenty, thirty years ago. And did anyone notice how much he sounds like Patrick Watson when he says "some lucky night"? It's incredible.
