Q&A
Borders Lyrics
Would you stop talking,
Because I don't think we agree,
You're always keeping all your borders up,
I'm thinking something must be wrong with me.
Well, I know you don't like it,
You're no exclusive company,
You're always keeping all your borders up,
And it's a little more than you and me.
Well, somebody's had a harder time,
But your always on the attack,
Have they been giving you the run-around,
And now you're trying to get your own back?
Well, I know you don't like it,
You're no exclusive company,
You're always keeping all your borders up,
And it's a little more than you and me,
I'm not guilty.
Oh well, I better say something,
To stop us creeping round these avenues,
You're always keeping all your borders up,
I bet you're getting a little confused,
I don't think so.
Well, it's time to turn this thing around,
Well there's no reason for this thing you found,
We're always keeping all our borders up,
I think it's time we tore them all down.
You've got to fight for a reason, what's your reason? You never cared,
You've got to fight for a reason, what's your reason? You never cared...
Because I don't think we agree,
You're always keeping all your borders up,
I'm thinking something must be wrong with me.
Well, I know you don't like it,
You're no exclusive company,
You're always keeping all your borders up,
And it's a little more than you and me.
But your always on the attack,
Have they been giving you the run-around,
And now you're trying to get your own back?
Well, I know you don't like it,
You're no exclusive company,
You're always keeping all your borders up,
And it's a little more than you and me,
I'm not guilty.
To stop us creeping round these avenues,
You're always keeping all your borders up,
I bet you're getting a little confused,
I don't think so.
Well, it's time to turn this thing around,
Well there's no reason for this thing you found,
We're always keeping all our borders up,
I think it's time we tore them all down.
You've got to fight for a reason, what's your reason? You never cared...

what was that, now?
This song is about mainly himself and how he never cared, but this girl made him care and now he is trying to get away from it by blaming the borders on her.
I saw it more as she's had it rough in the past and won't let anyone get through to her. Brilliant song though, loves it :)
I think I agree with Georgie, but I'm not really sure. I really love this song though.
obviously the person he's singing about is really guarded and won't let people get through to them. he's saying that it's not his fault, it's other people's and things from her past maybe (like georgie said). i think he wants to know what's going on in her head because he likes her a lot but because she's got her borders up, they aren't getting on as well. its a nice song anyway :)
basically. he just wants to help her but she never listens to him, shes always hiding behind a wall. she doesnt want to hear anyone say a bad thing about her because shes 'always on the attack' even if hes just trying to help
theyre both in the wrong at times but the guy thinks he 'better say something, ' because theyre always making up and falling out ('To stop us creeping round these avenues')
they guy thinks that if he can't get through the 'border' then there is obviously something wrong with him. or it could mean that the girl starts to believe that theres something wrong with her
in the end they make up 'Well it's time to turn this thing around, Well there's no reason for this thing you found,'
but then it ends with 'You've got to fight for a reason, what's your reason? You never cared,'
so theyve probably fallen out again.
i think.
I think the song is basically this guy has tried to have a relationship with this girl but its got to the stage where they should be close and he doesn't feel he can ever really get close to her because she keeps her borders up.
Its him trying to explain that some people have it worse off and she can't cling onto her past and keep shutting people out. The last verse thing, I think is him saying that he has to say it because otherwise they will just be tip toeing round the subject and he just wants to let her know because he wants to help her lower her borders and let him in. And the end bit is him giving up, he believes that she never cared and thats why she wouldn't let him know her better.
I just love the way he sings this :)
