Maybe I Can Change Lyrics

Now, will it ever be the same again?
And it will it ever feel right?
The false start, then I try to twist your heart
But I supposed it always knows

I know how I let you down
But maybe I can change this time around
This heart and these hands are mine
Maybe I can change this time

Soon, I'm gonna be an older man
And I will struggle to remember
The blank space when I tried to see your face
The blinded eye, I can't replace

I know how I let you down
But maybe I can change this time around
This heart and these hands are mine
Maybe I can change this time

Oh why can't we go back again?
Rain, rain, will you ever go away?
Come back again some other day

I know how I let you down
But maybe I can change this time around
This heart and these hands are mine
Maybe I can change this time

But I've tired you out with the things I do
But I can change, and change you too
But still somehow, I have to say
"I'm on my way"
Gone

I think Tom composed this one in response to Tim's writing of "Hamburg Song" and/or "Broken Toy"... not my absolute favorite b-side from the Under The Iron Sea era, but it's a good song all the same

Yea, dustfinger that's what I think also. I actually think that's exactly what it is. Tom Chaplin did write this in a response to Tim writing songs about him. And I love how they do this, what a great band I LOVE KEANE!

I think it is very moving that the singer and the songwriter have such a close relationship. I hope, they will be able to solve the current problems they have with each other.

As I only have the two albums of Keane (I don't own any singles) I have never listened to the song yet but still I think the lyrics are very touching.

It's only that I don't understand the last three lines: "But still somehow, I have to say 'I'm on my way' Gone"

What does he mean by that? Can anybody help?

@aLongDecember he’s on his way (to recovery and being the guy he was prior to the disease of addiction trying to ruin him.) he is grateful that his peeps are still standing by, making amends to them. And now they are Done with the apologies and talking Past stuff, the addict has left the building, Toms back!, the other guy... He’s GONE

yes the lyrics in fact was phrase of a message between tom and tim great and touching song

How is it "touching" when it ends with GONE :) I love the band and have yet to listen to this track, which I will do tonight. Tom could sing the label off a can of Spaghetti O's and I'd fall in love with his voice all over again:)
