This Conversation Is Over

I'm pretty sure the story is based on Echo and Narcissus. Echo loves Narcissus and Narcissus loves himself. Narcissus is so in love with himself that he can not stray away from his own reflection in a lake and stays there looking at his reflection until he dies, hench the part of the song which says:

the only eyes you'll look into are those in your reflection you are the means of my end

Echo is a wood nymph which is addicted to hearing her own voice and always had to have the last word in a conversation. She would occasionally keep Hera, Zeus' wife busy while Zeus would womanize among the other nymphs. When Hera found out she took away Echo's ability to speak freely, and the only words she could say were those which were last spoken to her by another person.

When Echo is turned down by Narcissus, she then mourns for the rest of her days until she fades away. An excerpt from a poem by Alan Cook based on the relationship between Echo and Narcissus states:

"Though Echo was hiding, was hiding, her heart Was burning with red-hot fire... ...Alas, Narcissus knew nothing of love; In him there burned no flame."

this explains the part of the song that says

"your empty words now drift away as fragile whispers I saw the day when the fire left your eyes, your tongue fell still"

I'm too lazy to explain anymore. I urge you all to look up the story of Echo and Narcissus if you want to understand the whole song.

i think by the first verse, he has/had a girlfriend and shes acting like she doesnt care that they broke it off, but he knows that she really does and he wonders how far shell go for her pride. and then hes saying that he doesnt understand why she hides her feelings, aside from the self-satisfaction it gives her. and he doesnt see that it's worth it.

and then he goes on to say that he wants it all to go away. like he doesnt want to remember what theyd been through.

and from this part it seems that she was a liar and was manipulative.

and then he just wants her to end it. he wants her to just flat out say that its over, because hes tired of going "back and forth." and shes selfish and cant look past her own wants and aspirations and its killing him because he still loves her.

and then he ends it himself saying "this conversation is over." and shes incapable of telling him the truth or giving him what he needs

hes basically talking about a relationship that was a complete lie and he wants it to end. he wants to stop holding onto it.

This song, to me, connects with the myth of Echo and Narcissus. “Take everything away from me silent angel” Yup, Echo there. “your empty words now drift away as fragile whispers/I saw the day when the fire left your eyes, your tongue fell still/your treason is silence…” This again reminds me of Echo, she was punished by the gods for thinking herself more deserving, hence the silence that is her treason. Actually, when I look closer and closer at the song, all I see is Echo, the only signs of Narcissus are the arrogant remarks.

I Think This Songs About His Relationship With His Girlfriend...And How Sick He Is Of The Way She Constantly Lies To Him...And He Feels Like She Doesnt Need Him Anymore And That The Only Person She Cares About Is Herself And There Is No Love In Thier Relationship...So Basically Hes Telling Her That "This Conversation Is Over" I Dont Want To Hear Anymore Of Your Lies.....And I Think The Line "Nothing To Remind Me Of This Time Now Lost" Means That He Doesnt Want Anything To Remind Him Of Her
