You Are Loved (Don't Give Up) Lyrics
Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world
When your heart's heavy
I, I, will lift it for you
Don't give up
Because you want to be heard
If silence keeps you
I, I, will break it for you
Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you, are loved
Don't give up
It's just the hurt that you hide
When you're lost inside
I, I'll be there to find you
Don't give up
Because you want to burn bright
If darkness blinds you
I, I will shine to guide you
Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you, are loved
You are loved
Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world
Don't give up
Everyone needs to be loved
You are loved
It's just the weight of the world
When your heart's heavy
I, I, will lift it for you
Don't give up
Because you want to be heard
If silence keeps you
I, I, will break it for you
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you, are loved
It's just the hurt that you hide
When you're lost inside
I, I'll be there to find you
Don't give up
Because you want to burn bright
If darkness blinds you
I, I will shine to guide you
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you, are loved
You are loved
It's just the weight of the world
Don't give up
Everyone needs to be loved
You are loved

"Don't give up It's just the weight of the world"
The mass of planet earth is about 6,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kg. I would give up. http://science.howstuffworks.com/question30.htm
I don't understand why people feel the need to see this song as being from/about God specifically. To claim Josh Groban is a Christian artist is to narrow down his fanbase considerably -- he makes uplifting music, yes, but the beauty of it is that it can be interpreted in both spiritual and secular ways. I've never heard God referenced in any of his non-classical songs; even You Raise Me Up is meant to be taken any way it's needed.
Well, that's just it - if people want to interpret it to be about or from God, that's their call. If people want to think this song's about purple unicorns, they can. That's the beauty of Josh Gorban's music, anyone can listen to it and be pleased.

I personally think the song as a peace song. It makes me think about how people in the third world have no voice and he is telling them to never give up hope. I love the line: "If darkness blinds you, I, I will shine to guide you". They want to be noticed and people should be helping them so we can guide them to a better life....that's how I perceive it.
i think this song is amazing.
you have to realize in the world we live in today...there are many people who either don't feel loved or are truly unloved by any human being on the planet. its possible for that to happen.
and Josh Groban brings up the good point that even when the world is against you, God is for you. He knows whats best and he wants you to keep pushing on because he has a plan for you and he loves you.
Oh I love this song! The meaning is pretty self-explanatory, but it can be seen from many perspectives. I personally see it as a Godly song. But it's pretty much for anyone who wants to encourage and uplift another.
I'm so glad that other people also hear songs from an other-than-human point of view.

Hear hear MarchingGrobanite!! Brilliant song, even though it's probably not one of his best, but maybe i just have to get used to it.
I, too, think it's supposed to be sung from God's perspective. In such a large world it becomes harder and harder everyday to think that you are significant. This song directly tackles this issue that burdens everyone at some stage.
Well, I don't quite see it in a Godly way. It can be interpreted in several ways.
I think it basically means no matter what happens, how hard life can get, you're loved by someone in the world. When all feels lost, don't give up on life, if only one person loves and cares about you, you are loved. They will help keep your head up in times of sorrow. Even if you think no one cares, and no one is listening, there always will be someone out there who IS listening and caring.
So you guys are sure he didn't write this song for me?
Yeah, I know I should've phrased that differently. Please don't harass me for it. I know who wrote it. I guess what I meant was: So you guys are sure he didn't choose to perform this song solely for yours truly?
My second favorite Christian artist (next to Sufjan Stevens) This song is beautiful and inspiring.
