The Thrill Is Gone Lyrics

The thrill is gone
The thrill is gone away
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away
You know you done me wrong baby
And you'll be sorry someday

The thrill is gone
It's gone away from me
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away from me
Although I'll still live on
But so lonely I'll be

The thrill is gone
It's gone away for good
Oh, the thrill is gone baby
Baby its gone away for good
Someday I know I'll be over it all baby
Just like I know a man should

You know I'm free, free now baby
I'm free from your spell
I'm free, free now
I'm free from your spell
And now that it's over
All I can do is wish you well

The main repetitive line (the thrill is gone) means that any positive emotion is any positive emotion has left their relationship. Thrill being happiness, social fun, sex or any number of things.

First callback: He felt hurt or betrayed by an action - cheating, or perhaps just allowing the relationship to disintegrate through boredom. He also feels that eventually she'll miss him, or he'll be an example of her failure through his future attempts at finding a working relationship.

Second Callback: He does still have positive feelings and memories of her, but he has to live without her, despite his instincts to the contrary, or at the very least, instincts for social validation and liveliness

Third Callback: He feels too hurt to try and break the loneliness from verse 2, and hopes with time that all the negative feelings holding him back will be suppressed for another try at romance

Final Verse: He feels relieved that all the things preventing him from leaving her are over, but at the same time, he feels like it's the mature thing to do to let her go, wish her good luck on her future endevours and all that, even though in the first verse he was clearly resenting her. Perhaps his emotional state has changed...anger, sadness, acceptance...

Overall, the song is about a man coming to terms with a toxic relationship. Perfect song.

best song ever, not only does it make me think of break-ups but also how everyone can damage me and how these days I sometimes feel that the thrill of life is gone.

BB King is the father of Memphis Blues....hands down. This song is telling his last love that "Hey, its over" and "there is no spark anymore" I love the way he throws this in:

You know you done me wrong baby And you'll be sorry someday

To the cheatin' bitches out there....you will pay for your actions one day! Great tune BB!

A great blues song about moving on after a breakup and going through the stages of emotions. I love the strings, I've never heard strings in a blues song before.
