Again We Rise Lyrics
store-bought additude and spit
a sugar-coated piece of shit
an instant rebel, just add greed
another useless commodity
broken glass and a broken jaw
lies are told in a southern drawl
poor-house poverty's your shtick
the real thing would kill you quick
Rise, again we will rise
blood and fire used to fill the night
burnt and drowned by our very lives
you missed a sinking boat by years
dollar signs, crocodile tears
its over now and long has been
those days are gone wont come again
another name crossed off the list
the real thing would kill you quick
Rise, again we will rise
there's nothing for you to fight against
you're so unreal its evident
you'll never be one of our kind
this aint yours, fuck you dont try
this bridge was burnt before you could cross
you reap the benefits of whats lost
go home son, hang your costume up
a goddamn insult to the rest of us
a thousand-yard stare across the south
a full belly and a lying mouth
momma's boy plays heretic
the real thing would kill you quick
Rise, again we will rise
there's nothing for you to fight against
you're so unreal its evident
you'll never be one of our kind
this aint yours, fuck you dont try
fuck you, dont even try
fuck you, your time is nigh
fuck you, i've had enough
fuck you, your time is up
a sugar-coated piece of shit
an instant rebel, just add greed
another useless commodity
broken glass and a broken jaw
lies are told in a southern drawl
poor-house poverty's your shtick
the real thing would kill you quick
burnt and drowned by our very lives

I think this song is to all the fake fucks who see a sell out on TV and try to be like them. For all the people who think that they throw and a voice and a gold chain an there gangster. Throw on a LoG T-shirt and some jeans with a wrist band and chain and they think there a metal head. For the millions and millions of people who buy some cloths by a well known brand and act like every one els when there pices of shit. And us, the ones who are our self will "Rise" and be us, embrace who and what we are!
this songs about all these "metal" bands that are out now a days that act bad ass and are all into the metal scene but are totally not metal. i mean, just because your music is metal doesn't make YOU metal, metal is an additude, a way of life if you will. this song is saying FUCK you to all these wannabe motherfuckers who are just in a metal band for the image, bad ass song, i love it. thats my 2 cents
@burnthepriest17 that's what I've always felt hearing it.

Wrong, so wrong. This song is about the South, the "real" south. Not the costume wearing KKK faggots, or the wanna be rednecks. Just the real south.
@Semperdrunk It's also about the fact that most people who claim the south, would fail if having to live it themselves.

I'm almost positive that this song is calling out southern elitist and Neo-Confederates.
Breakdown on parts of the song:
Lies are told in a southern drawl Poor-house poverty's your shtick The real thing would kill you quick
These type of people complain about their struggle in life while criticizing people less fortunate than them, and play the victim card constantly.
Blood and fire used to fill the night Burnt and drowned by our very lives You missed a sinking boat by years Dollar signs, crocodile tears Its over now and long has been Those days are gone won't come again Another name crossed off the list The real thing would kill you quick
This refers very specifically to Neo-Confederates, saying that the war and everything it's about are long gone and that most of these people wouldn't even be able to handle it if it were still going on.
There's nothing for you to fight against You're so unreal its evident You'll never be one of our kind This ain't yours, fuck you don't try
Mostly the same as the second verse, and refers to how this attitude doesn't make you a "true southerner."
You reap the benefits of what's lost Go home son, hang your costume up
One last bit of evidence that this refers to Neo-Confederates. "Hang your costume up" is a metaphor for how these people put out an image of being some sort of soldier or freedom fighter. The word "Son" is used to demean and degrade them, making it clear that they're really just seen as whiny and childish. Great song by LoG that makes great points about this movement.
@MadJack49 Not sure where the random slashes came from, didn't write it like that.

@MadJack49 dude you've blown my mind. I've always immaturely thought it was about fake metal bands pretending to be real. I now think differently. Not from the south so I guess I never thought about it this way. My new outlook makes this song even better in my opinion because I can't stand seeing confederate flags flying in the rural parts of my state not just because of the history, but because the area was never part of that group.

I think it's basically about someone who spreads their opinion despite their blatant ignorance towards the subject. I'd pull some lyrics to point to Bush, but the dudes in the band have assured us that there is not a single political song on the entire new record. To me, it points towards contrived anti-society, and how someone who pretends to be a rebel and tries to break the mould eventually becomes as bad as the culture they were originally trying to distance themselves from. LoG owns.
Love the start to this song its awsome to headbang too. I still think this song is still somewhat about Bush i mean lines like " this bridge was burnt before you could cross you reap the benefits of whats lost go home son, hang your costume up a goddamn insult to the rest of us a thousand-yard stare across the south a full belly and a lying mouth momma's boy plays heretic. " kinda point a finger at the worlds biggest fuck up.
Nevermind , foget what i said on my last message, turns out that this whole album has nothing to do with politics.
I think this song is about people cashing in on the white-trash cliche, that's the impression I get right off the bat from the first verse.
I'd agree with ZionsVillageIdiot , but Lamb Of God are actually down with Slipknot and have toured with them, probably with the phrase "To each his fucking own" on their minds.
So? Iron maiden are touring with Bullet for my valentine, what would you say bout that one?
anyways, I agree with what both burnthepriest17 and xNo.Transitory said..
"Store-bought attitude and spit"- all those wannabes go and buy clothes that will make them look cool.. and then make a band that attempts to be "oh so metal" but it's mostly for the money (Dollar signs).. I think it's making Randy mad cus as opposed to others, some people take metal seriously and make it the centre of their lives.. lamb of god worked their asses off for years to get to where they are, and some fucking poser bands think they can, in a second, get to the top and make money. wtf? so he's saying, people like that will never be a part of us.. you can say you're metal but it doesn't mean you are, or ever will be (you can repeat a lie a thousand times but it never becomes anymore true..).
Don't you feel like the first verse kinda refers to Phil Anselmo?
