Jesus Is The Manager At Walmart Lyrics

Come on in little one
But remember where you are
Hold your thoughts and your tongue
And grab yourself a cart
To fill with all the shit
That keeps you on your knees
And if you lead a life of sin
If your here pretend youre clean

Because Jesus is the manager at Walmart
Yeah Jesus is the manager at Walmart
He freed us from our sins
And gave the world a new start
Now Jesus is the manager at Walmart

Close your mind with the door
To keep the demons out
Everyone in the store
Shut their little mouths
Except when to say
"Look how much we saved"
And all we have to do is smile
While our minds decay

Because Jesus is the manager at Walmart
Yeah Jesus is the manager at Walmart
He freed us from our sins
And gave the world a new start
Now Jesus is the manager at Walmart

And if you say He died for you
Then you'll be saved
And if you say He died for you
Then your safe
Close your mind with the door
Close your mind with the door

Because Jesus is the manager at Walmart
Yeah Jesus is the manager at Walmart
He freed us from our sins
And gave the world a new start
Now Jesus is the manager at Walmart

Why does barely anyone comment on SES's songs? They're too good for such few coments

Anyways, this song's obviously about the decline of civilization, how we all just blend in and become the same as each other, and how we're too relient on ipods/cell phones/tv/etc.

They are WA too good for no comments. I agree. It basically about how Jesus has lost his main "job" and has taken a back seat to everything. But it's a little hard to tell, knowing how Sean feels about religion. A very good song though. But what ever happened to Anxiety? Did it get canned? From from I heard it sounded pretty good.

Anxiety is only available through P2P or buying it from a show. Vultures comes out in October yay

Smile Empty Soul ranks up with my top 3 favorite bands. They're really an amazing band. At first, I thought this song was kind of mediocre, especially for them. However, its grown on me immensely. Its a really thoughtful song, and it sounds really good. I can't wait for Vultures to come out.

Oh, and yeah if you want the story about Anxiety (along with more information about SES directly from Sean), then check out this link to Bieler Bros "Hot Seat":

Oh, and by the way, my thoughts on the meaning..

I think its not so much the decline of civilization, but rather the decline of any real "morality" of religion. (I'm not saying religion ever had any morality, but bare with me). I think it's along the same lines as Every Sunday, that people use religion, themselves and revering Jesus as a way to make themselves "good people".

Walmart represents capitalism at its finest, and in this song, its explaining how Jesus is just another day, another dollar, and it really just doesn't have a meaning beyond "I believe in Jesus, therefore, I MUST be a good person".

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this from a religious point of view, not that Jesus is any better than another day, another dollar (depends on your "beliefs" I guess), but really that the bottom line is that people are hypocritical, and make a habit of doing generally "good" things as a way to make up for things they know they're not doing good with.

In other words, its like confessing to sins that you're going to just go and commit again.

I just wanted to say that I enjoyed reading your take on this songs meaning. I read it out loud to my girl and she agreed with most of what you said. Thanks.

By the way, its actually..

"And if you lead a life of sin, when you're here pretend you're clean."

Not "free"

without getting too much into it, i think the point could be that most people view jesus and wal-mart as great things (ex. low product costs, all the positives associated w/ religion), when in reality, they often end up causing more harm than good (ex. killing small town economies, horrible wages, religious intolerance/war, hypocrisy).

religion does not cause war it is people that dont know what they are talking about that cause war... people take the word of god and pervert it for there own cause. its like if some one gets hit by a drunk driver in a Hummer, it isnt the hummers fault it is the drivers.

These are the most insanely incorrect lyrics ever.

I'm compelled to fix them.

I fucking love this song. This is a song I wanna cover and perform some day in my little town where the biggest and almost sole provider of jobs is Wal-Mart. It just seems so right.
