Bags Of Bones Lyrics

We bonded over broken bones.
Whose broke skin, whose fractured in two places, and whose hurt the most.
We bonded over broken bones.
How many vicodin we took before bed, how many we sold to the band sleeping on our floor;
Week one of a two week tour.
God knows, they'll need it more than us.

You and me; an x-ray machine.
I swear that day you saw straight through me.

We're two bags of bones broken and talking of people we both know in common.
Amongst other things that I shouldn't mention.

You and me; a hospital love scene.
If only these broken bodies were ours forever.

i wonder if this was an actual event. also, if the scene between the two characters was really made in the hospital and if the two characters "bonded over broken bones". either that, or this was a utter personification. i'm entirely infatuated with it. hands down, Mike's lyrics never ceases to amaze me.

first of all its "whose fractures broke in TWO places"...not into places. that just doesnt make sense...at all...like a bone breaking in two different places....not whatever illogical hogwash you put up there.but anyway Mike Kinsella is a fantastic musican and writer. his lyrics are always fantastic and music just as interesting.

Hahah, people are so mean when they post replies to song lyrics.

If you're so smart "jbatista" why didn't you just post the lyrics up yourself? You obviously didn't care enough.

People make mistakes.

Mmmhm.

Yeah mistakes like the fact he spelled musician wrong

Sorry, I wasn't thinking. You don't have to be a douche about it. (seems to me like you're not the best with your grammar either)

the first part pretty much sounds like bein on tour.

the whole hospital scene..broken bodies.., gives me that feeling in that short story "what we talk about when we talk about love" in that same titled carver book. its a long stretch but two people in body casts hmmmm

this song is genius. i think it is one big mataphor for a couple talking about how they've been hurt in the past.

this song, to me, represents the recognition of one's mortality- the fact that all we really are is a "bag of bone," and further that we all, on a very deep level, wish we were immortal ("If only these broken bodies were ours forever").

Ernest Becker has a book called "The Denial of Death," which I highly recommend.

this song is very well done.

it could be much more complicated than just a literal translation...or it could be as simple as you want to imagine it.

either way its enjoyable.
