My Love

The arrangement of this song and TI's part lead me to believe this song is more about courtship/seducing a woman with words. I would say it seems Justin is describing the experience of meeting a beautiful woman, and wanting her to be his, mostly in a sexual way. The things in the song ( what if I wrote you a symphony, love note, etc) are the things he would say to try and seduce her with his words.

Wow this is definatly one of his best songs. the beat is awesome and makes the song catchy. Its a very sweet song, perfect for an engagment. But i think TI really killed it. His rap kinda burned the whole commitment meaning and turned it into another player/sleepwithmenow song.

It used to be significant I suppose, reminds me of a whirlwind romance, I think this song is quite ironic though, Justin is being really romantic and proposing or whatever And in TI's rap he says I’m patient, but I ain’t gon' try You don’t come, I ain’t gon' die and And forget your face, I swear I will! Just think it's amusing!

This song reminds me of a relationship I fucked up pretty bad...

This is what I think.

A man loves a woman. Or at least he thinks he does. JT and TI represent two competing halves of the man's psyche. JT's lyrics are about the heady sensation of being in love, and the rush of wooing her. He's using lots of clichéd courting imagery; the "symphony", "love notes", long "walks on the beach"/in "the countryside", and even proposing to her. His singing is high, floaty and melodic, evocative of the high-handed and stereotypically "lovey" mood he describes. It is romantic, but unrealistic - this half of the man's mood is naive, and even as childish as an appeal of "Would you date me on the regular?"

However, TI gives the harsh voice of reason, rapidly and deeply cutting through with the reality of the situation; the man is successful, and there are plenty of other women out there. He is even frustrated by the subject's inability to comprehend this. Contrasting with the floaty falsetto of JT's lyrics, TI raps quickly and with a deeper tone of voice. While JT is all about the woman, TI is realistic, and takes into account his own success.

The conclusion of this internal argument is absent - the battle will rage within the man, leaving only an ironic echo of the request; All he wants her to do is be his love.

This should have been the first single off the new album.

I dont think that it should be the first single off the album. I think that the idea of sexyback is to introduce his concept on the new album. i think that his whole album is sorta his take on what music is going to be like after he brings "sexy" back into the music world. (if that is possible) If My Love came out as the first single, I don't think it would have put him in the right direction. It would be like....."4 years and he could only come up with a techno-pop love song with a famous rapper on it?" My Love is an amazing song and I think it's really crazy but I think SexyBack set a standard that we weren't expecting this time around. Now that we know what to expect, My Love will complement the new sound he's put out there. I do think that this single will make more waves than sexyback.....it deserves it.

loves it. meaning is pretty obvious, as are all justin timberlake songs.

and that part that says "and you know.. " it's actually, to my understanding at least, "ain't another woman that could take this from my love"
