"Just drive" she said
there's no one I can call a friend
and I'm too tired too pretend
"I'm sick" she said
the same routine, collapse, defeat
the failures that I must defeat
her face that night
bathed in the glow
of dashboard lights
and on we drove
"it's hard" she said
I'm growing tired from fighting sleep
the memories just seem to creep
into my dreams
my sanctuary is displaced
by visions of my past disgrace
the skies raced past
as we drove by
somehow time lapsed
the changing skies
don't talk
just drive
we'll be
just fine
there's no one I can call a friend
and I'm too tired too pretend
"I'm sick" she said
the same routine, collapse, defeat
the failures that I must defeat
her face that night
bathed in the glow
of dashboard lights
and on we drove
"it's hard" she said
I'm growing tired from fighting sleep
the memories just seem to creep
into my dreams
my sanctuary is displaced
by visions of my past disgrace
the skies raced past
as we drove by
somehow time lapsed
the changing skies
don't talk
just drive
we'll be
just fine

These lyrics seem to be about the sorrow this girl feels after the ending of a relationship. She is driving with the speaker and reflecting on what she has gone through. She can no longer sleep at night and cannot feel peace. It sounds almost like PTSD. I am not sure what Peoria has to do with this, but I imagine this is taking place in the city of Peoria, IL. This is my interpretation of the lyrics anyway. This was the song that convinced me I was a fan of Airiel. I was immediately entranced by it. I especially love those harmonies at around 3:30. Very haunting.
