Creation Lake Lyrics
The way things have fallen
Can't be afraid anymore
First we were water
In creation lake
Have to start to end
To go where life lives
There are twenty-four parts in a day
That divides me from you
Twenty-four parts in a day
That divides me from you
Way things have fallen
Can't be afraid anymore
First we were water
Came from clouds hit the ground
Mama's the sweetest
Alarm clock around
There are twenty-four parts in a day
That divides me from you
Twenty-four parts in a day
That divides me from you
Twenty-four parts in a day
That divides me from you
Can't be afraid anymore
First we were water
In creation lake
Have to start to end
To go where life lives
That divides me from you
Twenty-four parts in a day
That divides me from you
Can't be afraid anymore
First we were water
Came from clouds hit the ground
Mama's the sweetest
Alarm clock around
That divides me from you
Twenty-four parts in a day
That divides me from you
Twenty-four parts in a day
That divides me from you

This song seems to be a dream of a time before creation, before life. Everything was but water, even these two beings. They shared their lives within the lake. Then, when the time came to form life, these two beings had to go their separate ways. They had to gather courage to leave Creation Lake in order to go where life lives.
Now that these beings have become living, they miss each other, and the simplicity of living together in the lake as one. It is realized that twenty-four hours in a day divide them, and that they will never be together again. There is sorrow, but acceptance, as they have both moved on to greater things.
Finally, he or she has been awakened from the dream by her mother's sweet voice, and is brought back to reality, with a thoughtful remembrance of the dream.
That is a fucking beautiful interpretation, and I have taken it and ran with it. I love your imagination. :)

Great cover, but the original is much better. It's by a silverlake band called "The Movies" that influenced many bands in this group of LA music.
i love this song.
in my opinion, this is the most beautiful music of this album, pikul.
this is a beautiful song. i think it is just.....wow. beyond words
this band can do no wro ng sdiosghgipdjvijsdahoohvdhusofb and they're so nice too. especially the bassist (who i have an uber crush on!)
thank you, wolfattack, for knowing your stuff! i thought i was the only one who knew this song was really by 'the movies'...that version is so much better (no hate on silversun pickups, but it really is)
pretty sure nikki sings it. its a pretty good song
i think its about somebody is missing someone who died, but i'm not sure
To me it seems to be a song about the beginning, life, and end of an awesome relationship. Even when the 2 people are apart they're thinking about each other, even when it's days at a time (24 parts in a day that divide me from you)
I don't think it's necessarily about a relationship.
To me, it's about the relationship with our mother, and growing up and becoming independent.
"First we were water in creation lake" makes me think of how we all start, on a very basic level. We are all just dividing cells.
The part about "Mama's the sweetest alarm clock around"... I don't know about anyone else, but my mother was always the one who woke me up in the morning.
"Twenty four parts in a day divide me from you" is really logically easy to figure out.
There are twenty four hours in one day. Thus, she lives an hour away from her mother.
Just my take on it. To each their own.
