This is an amazing song.
To me it feels like a relationship that broke up bitter, but the girl can't stop thinking about this old flame, and eventually reasons that he still hates her and that he's better off without her, this is what I got from the song anyway..it's just amazing

This is about not being able to stop thinking about the one that got away.
I think it's about a relationship that she (the narrator) ended. The guy wanted her back, but she felt she couldn't be in the relationship at that point, so they both moved on ("it's your turn to leave me hanging"). Except she hasn't really moved on, and finally got up the courage to call him, to see who he was with, and if he had gotten over her. She might not nessecarily want him back, but it does hurt her that "I made you hate me."
I agree completely with eadonn. When I hear this, it reminds me of when my ex broke up with me in the past, thus killing our friendship also. I think this would be like if she called me back just to see what I was up to, almost like she feels a little guilty.
god this song is my theme song lol. i think its about a couple where he liked her but she wasn't sure and left him hanging on and now he's moved one when she has only just caught up.
this song's about a long term relationship that ended poorly. both people caused a lot of problems in the relationship, probably as revenge to get back at one another. after they finally went their separate ways schuyler finally realizes that the guy really loved her and when she tries to get him back, he's gone because he realizes that they just can't work out
