Falling For You Lyrics
she calls him early cause she knows he'll be asleep
she leaves a message after the beep
she says she's better now but she's still incomplete
she's tryin hard to make her voice sound soft and sweet
(yeah)
a couple hours pass 'till he picks up the phone
he wasn't ready for the shock he holds his breath down
he plays the message twice and then the dial tone
reminds him that she's not around its a lonely sound
*he's got perspective and she's got nothing left and he wonders why he can’t go on
he's singin'
would she could she've been think of me all along?
and if i asked her would she tell me the truth?
cause it's a long way down when your hopes are high as mountains
and i am worried that i'm fallin for you*
she's like an hour glass that never got the sand
she's hollow and transparent like an infant
he is a lonely boy but he still loves his life
he doesn't look to make a scene he looks to make right
he's got perspective and shes got nothing left
and he wonders why he cant go on
he's singin
would she could she've been think of me all along?
and if i asked her would she tell me the truth?
cause its a long way down when your hopes are high as mountains
and i am worried that i'm fallin for you
i'm holdin out
i'm strong and im proud
and there's a new heart i've got thinking on me
it's time you face yourself
take a look at this girl and you'll see what i see
could she would she've been think of me all along?
and if i asked her would she tell me the truth?
cause its a long way down when your hopes are high as mountains
and i am worried that im fallin for you

This is an amazingly beautiful song.
This song is truly beautiful. All of his songs are.

I love that the "interlude" before this is truely the message that she left for him. (If you look on his cd it says "Jamie as herself on "Insert 3")
Either way, this is a song about worrying that he's falling back in love with her just because she called him one time. He wonders if she's been thinking about him the entire time. Such a true feeling, i love this song.
"cause it's a long way down when your hopes are high as mountains" that's a great line.
This is an awesome song!!!
I think this song means that this guy is starting to have feelings for a friend, like falling in love with her. And his friend that he's falling for is kind of suicidal, or she had her heart broken many times leaving her feeling empty. He's unsure if she will like him back.
I could be completely wrong but this is what I think this song means.
Ever since i heard this song on Real World Denver (I think it was that season) I've loved it, and Ronnie Day. I love any man or band that can sing such personal lyrics in such amazing ways. It seems to me its about old love rekindling, but I'm not sure.
Honestly, I believe that every song is a different story to every person. This is how mine goes:
To me, this song is about a guy not wanting to get his own hopes up. I think that she has lied to him before--not to intentionally hurt him, but perhaps to push him away because she was scared. She's been hurt alot, by all the people who were supposed to take care of her. She acts like nothing's wrong with her, but he was never fooled; and as much as she wants to believe that he won't hurt her too, she just can't. He told her how he felt before--maybe short of full-on love--and she ran.
Now--after who knows how long--she calls him again and he can't believe its her. After all this time, maybe he'd fooled himself into thinking the feelings were gone, or at least lost. But just the sound of her voice brought her back. And he realizes that he loves her.
The rest is just him tormenting himself with the constant wondering if she really did love him back, and if they have even the slightest chance to be together. And whatever else he might do, he will not let himself get his hopes up, "'cause it's a long way down when your hopes are high as mountains."
:) That's what this song means for me.
