Skin and Bones Lyrics
I lock the door
Turn all the water on
And bury that sound
So no one hears anything anymore
Mirror lie to me, Tell me you can see
Maybe you won't be able to recognize me now
I know you can feel, All the things you steal
And you're taking, And you're taking it
Feeling so easy, Make me skin & bones
I'm always on my knees for you
Break it like it's even, When you're leaving it
Thin
Where the hell have you been?
Sometimes it burns, Maybe I'll wash it out
It all looks so big
Nevermind, I don't feel anything
It only hurt a bit,
I still feel like shit,
And I think you won't be able to recognize me now
It's easier to quit, It's harder to admit
And you're pushing me, You're fucking pushing me
Feeling so easy, Make me skin & bones
I'm always on my knees for you
Break it like it's even, When you're leaving and
Thin
Where the hell have you been?
'Cause you ooh whoa, Ooh whoa always win
And you ooh whoa, Ooh whoa yeah
Laughing like it works
Bleeding like it dont hurt
Knock you off your feet
Even if you need me
Tear you apart, and I hate how I need you
Feeling so easy, Make me skin & bones
Im always on my knees for you
Break it like its even
When you're leaving
It's too fucking easy
Make me skin and bones
I'm always on my knees for you
Break like it's even
When you're leaving it
Thin
Where the hell have you been?
Cause you ooh whoa, Ooh whoa always win
And you ooh whoa, Ooh whoa, Ooh
You ooh whoa, Ooh whoa, Ooh
I will burn all this,
I will burn all this,
I will burn all this
(repeat 3X)

"I lock the door Turn on the water Bury that sound"
I believe this part is about throwing up, and drowning out the noise with the tap or the shower.
"Well sometimes it burns Baby I'll wash it out It all look so big Nevermind, I don't feel anything"
And this part, probably about the food they eat, and getting rid of it after eating it.
Good song. Strong message.
It's obviously about bulimia.
But, REDPARTYHAT, I'm disagreeing with your imterpretation of Josh being bulimic because of a girl. I've never heard of someone developing and ED because a girl/guy didn't like them, or they weren't good enough for them.. Eating disorders are a mental disease.
Umm... Most eating disorders come from someone not being "good enough" for a person. Or if someone breaks up with them they would start looking at theirselves to blame and eventually find something like their weight, whatever. They'll push themselves and tell themselves that they deserve to hurt and maybe, jsut maybe, their partner will take them back or open their eyes and see that theyre worthy.. Soo it may turn into an eating disorder. And it could be Anorexia ANDBulimia.

was the guy in this band bulimic? i've got an anorexic cousin and as fucked as this sounds i think this song is kinda touching (to me anyway)
It's about Josh and his bulimia. Whether or not he still suffers from it I don't know, but at one point he was bulimic. If you read the lyrics to "Feeling Small", it's mentioned in there as well.
I adore this song.
Yup, definitely about Josh and his bulimia. I think I get this entire song.
I lock the door Turn on the water Bury that sound So no one hears anything anymore
'Kay. This is when he's purging his body of the food. You have to turn on the water so you're drowning out the sounds of the gagging. It can get loud sometimes. Especially if you don't take your breath in at the right time, because you start choking on the vomit.'
Mirrors lie to me, tell me you can see Maybe you won't be able to recognize me now
'People with eating disorders usually hear things while they're eating. Some give their sicknesses identities. They name them, make them actual people. It's a bit more comforting. Most make them friends, actually. Fist, I think he's begging for help. When he says tell me that you can see. The mirrors lie to me part is self explanitory. You can't see properly when you're sick. You look at people who are 20 pounds heavier and wonder why you can't look like them. The next line, I think he's talking to his sickness. Because she's always telling him he's fat. He's wondering if she even recognizes him now, because he's changed so much. Inside and out.'
I know you can feel, all the things you steal And you're taking, you're takin it
'Once again, he's talking to his disease. She steals everything. He has no life outside this sickness, he's been robbed of everything. Next line, he's talking about how cruel she is. That she's taking it in, feeding off him. She knows he can't win.'
Feeling so easy Make me skin and bones
'These two lines are pretty sad. He's giving himself to her, so she'll give him what he wants.'
I'm always on my knees for you You break like it's even When you're faking it Thin, Where have you been?
'Always on my knees for you can be taken two ways. Both make sense. On his knees for her, as in he'll give anything and everything. Or, you can take it literally. As in, on his knees at the toilet. Next few lines are just talking about how she makes him act like everything's okay, even when it clearly isn't.'
Well sometimes it burns Baby I'll wash it out
'The burning can be both emotional and physical. Burning of the throat after you've jammed your fingers down there so many times, or the burning emotionally. When he says washing out I think he's saying it's no big deal, that he can just fix it.'
It all look so big Nevermind, I don't feel anything
'First line he means sometimes he feel overwhelmed by the sickness. And honestly, who wouldn't . But in the next line, he's back in denial. He doesn't feel anything. Because if he admits how much it hurts, he'll realize it isn't worth it.'
It only hurt a bit I still feel like shit
'First line, denial once again. He's trying to convince himself that it doesn't hurt that bad. The next line means a lot. I think it's after he's lost the weight, he still doesn't feel good. He still feels like shit. He's confused, because he was sure he'd feel better once he lost whatever amount he wanted to.'
And I think you won't be able to recognize me now
"Once again, he's changed so much he wonders if she'll even know who he is now.'
It's easier to quit Harder to admit and You're pushin me, you're fucking pushin me!
'It'd be easier to let this go, because in reality it isn't worth what he's giving up for it. But the next line says it all. He as to admit he has a problem before quitting is even an option. The last line is him talking to her again. He's on the edge of breaking.'
Feeling so easy Make me skin and bones I'm always on my knees for you You break like it's even When you're faking it Thin, Where have you been?
'Already explained.'
Cause you always win You always win
"Here, he speaks the truth. She'll always win. She'll always be in his life, even if he's considered better by a doctor, or whoever. She'll never go away.'
Laughin' like it works Bleeding like it dont hurt
'Laughing as if it'll make him feel better. Next line is referring to how he's going along with this sickness without complaining, as if it doesn't hurt.'
Knock you off your feet Even if you need me Tear you apart, hey now i need you
"The first two lines are basically the same as the last line. It's like, sometimes he'll defy her. He'll hate her. Tear her apart in his mind. But in the end he comes crawling back, because he can't do it alone.'
Feeling too easy make me skin and bones Im always on my knees for you Break like its even When your fakin
'Already explained'
If you haven't already guessed, when I'm talking about her I'm talking about the disease. Yeah, I gave her an identity too. Honestly, bulimia is really hard to understand, all eating disorders are. Eating disorders sort of isolate the victim. That's why I love songs like there. It feels really good to know I'm not the only one feeling like this. And it's healthy because I can see people do get through this.
Woah, I just re-read that. Sorry bout the spelling errors, hope you can still read it. It's 2:30 in the morning, so I have an excuse. =)
xlushlipsx, I dont notice any spelling errors at all. Are you eyes blury this late at night?
I completely agree with xlushlipsx, you explained it very well.
Great explaination, xlushlipsx. :) High five
Wow, I can't believe there aren't any more comments for the song...
I think this song has been explained to the very last bit. ;)
This song, along with Feeling small, are extremely important to me. Because I have two very close friends that can relate to this perfectly. One, anorexia, another, bulimia.
It's so true what Josh is saying. How this disorder ruins a person. Though, I'm a little hesitant on saying that Josh WAS or IS bulimic. There is absolutly zero evidence (unless you know him personally, and if you do...You rock! :] ).
this sounds like it's about an eating disorder... all you eating disorder people out there... food is good for you. eat a burger before you blow away. just some advice. it's so sad that all these girls and some guys don't eat or throw up their food because they want to be skinny. if your friends dont like you because you are 'overweight' then they might not be the greatest friends to have,
