(Pre-Versa) Vice/Versa Lyrics
Mountains of molehills,
a grapevine in my ear.
Spots on the tiger while the townspeople gather to hear,
while the nests in my hands starve for rest.
Sticklers for cheap fun,
you oughta be ashamed to trade in your heirlooms.
For an all day black market parade,
for a grand prize: a slap in the face
For you,
bold faced type covers your text,
it must have been winter.
Still frame, no dice.
Where do you get your evidence?
Move now, stay still,
it takes a luminescent hue.
The wood, the crest that's weaved outside your vest.
Still frame, no dice.
Loons light the skyline while you sleep on concrete with both your eyes open.
I just kept pulling on both your feet.
Someday together we'll breathe
For you,
bold faced type covers your text,
it must have been winter.
Still frame, no dice.
Where do you get your evidence?
Move now, stay still,
it takes a luminescent hue.
The wood, the crest that's weaved outside your vest.
Still frame, no dice.
Roll down your windows and know there's a shortcut ahead,
the long drive home is taking it's toll.
We just need to rest.
Still frame, no dice.
Where do you get your evidence?
Move now, stay still,
it takes a luminescent hue.
The wood, the crest that's weaved outside your vest.
Still frame, no dice.

the lyrics in the seventh line should say 'For all day black market parades' and as for what it means to me i think it's about small-town gossip or something like that, because if something like that happens it makes 'mountains of molehills' as it has a kind of snowball effect, cause that's how it happened to me my band.
Well, see they have the lyrics right for the Inter.Funda.Stifle album. For the newer album from Fair To Midland, they changed the lyrics on that line to what you are referring to. So yeah. Go with it.
Not sure about the meaning. Timmeh's reply sounds good to me. But it should read in the first verse, "while the nests in my hands starve forever." And there's a verse missing. Not sure if that's because this was a pre-release?
Lyrics were added when it was released on the Inter.Funda.Stifle album. The release you guys are hearing is newer, and since then, the songs have been redone. The lyrics will be a little off.
Fixed!
Also, "bold face type covers your text, it must have been winter" and "sleep on concrete with both your eyes open" sound like its talking about a homeless person. The "bold face type covers" sound like a newspaper, and the other example reinstates that.
I rather inferred this as a reference to journalists. I'm not sure it's "roll down your toes", but perhaps (car) window/s. Being aware of a shark on the hill may be giving up for the night so as to sleep, whilst another paparazzi journalist waits for any action so as to get a candid photo-shot.
from what i have gathered from everyone's meaning for this band, they sing about celebs and paparazzi a lot. does anyone know why?
i agree with keesv with this one.
Still frame, no dice. Where do you get your evidence? Move now, stay still, it takes a luminescent hue. The wood, the crest that's weaved outside your vest. Still frame, no dice.
to me they are talking about someone that is having to choose to wait it out and see if something comes. however, i do not understand how the "The wood, the crest that's weaved outside your vest" comes into play?
I agree with it being about celebs and media. first verse: about how what celebs do is made into things its not (mountains of molehills spots on a tiger)and that we want to know everything they do so much we will sell ourselves to get that info. (Sticklers for cheap fun, you oughta be ashamed to trade in your heirlooms. For an all day black market parade) and the (grand prize a slap in the face) line strikes me to be about how frustrated the celebs get that eventually they will strike back eg: russel crowe is in the spotlight a lot for attacking the media but think about it how in his face do they get when u look at the footage on the news? the chorus to me: (Still frame, no dice. Where do you get your evidence? Move now, stay still, it takes a luminescent hue. The wood, the crest that's weaved outside your vest. Still frame, no dice) seems to talk about how desperate the papparazi are to get that killer shot so much that they will stop and wait and move on when the avenue is exausted and the (the wood the crest thats weaved outside ur vest) seems to me in one way or another to be about that the media even goes to the length of hiding cameras in boxes or on the jackets to get those shots.
the next verse to me goes back to the celebs and that even at night they have no peace and to escape the media (the loons light up the skyline) they sleep on the floor or on concrete or wherever they can find some solace and that they are so haggard that they just try to sleep with their eyes open and fade into their own private world where noone can get them constantly. then it goes back to the chorus again :D and finally the part about the shark on the hill, most of the time in the news ppl who take advantage of ppl or are just void of sense or feeling are called sharks. such as lawyers and the media!!!! a shark on the hill is again the paparazzi getting a good vantage point. and the long drive line just strikes me to be a metaphor for life as a long journey and that as a celeb being in the public eye from such vultures all the time takes its toll and all they need is a rest to be able to think clearly and recover just to be normal ppl again. thanks for reading hope this seems plausible.:D
err im pretty sure that "Roll down your toes and know there's a shark on a hill" is wrong. I think its "Roll down the windows, i know there's a shortcut ahead."
