This song to me is about him believing in a girl, whose seventeen it seems, and he's telling her she should keep doing what she's doing and he'll always believe in her. He's teling her that she should keep going, keep the fire burning, and keep the scream until it's heard.
this song remimds me so much of myself. I graduated from high school when i was seventeen and I had no idea what i wanted to do with my life. I was scared to go to college, so everytime I heard this song, it brought my spirits up. I am now in college.One day at college, this guy told me "I thought I saw fire in your eyes" and he did not say anything else, and I did not want to ask why he said that and it had sounded so beautiful, i was afraid that his explanation would ruin what i had thought of when he said that. I thought this was ironic because I had felt connected to this song before. Anyway, its not like anyone cares but i just thought i'd share my "seventeen ain't so sweet" story

to me, this song is about telling a girl that, she may not fit into the stereotypical standards of the world, but that she doesn't need to, and even though it's hard at the moment, she'll make it and prove to everyone that you don't have to meet the world's standards, you don't have to fit, that being different is a great thing and that it will actually just make her stand out all the more when she does finally make it in the world, it's really inspiring, i love it
I think this song is about living in a world that has set nothing but low expectations and how she has a lot more going for her. Kinda like there are will be a lot of people in the world that look down on you but don't let their veiws stomp on your dreams. Everyone has potential to do something great in life and it's up to you how your life ends up.
