Lewis said there plainly seems to be
Moral standards in humanity
And this all makes perfect sense to me
Except we can't keep them can we
We are all guilty
Not being all we should be
Look at your own self and see
His voice cut through the war in my head
Screaming something I could understand
And somehow we knew me when He said
Is there anyone who's desperate
For anything more than this
I'm the anyone who's desperate
For anything more than this
We are all guilty
Not being all we should be
Look at your own self and see
We are all guilty
I am so guilty
Nobody move
I want that person to hear me
Yes, I'm talking to you
If you don't believe then
Lift up your arms
Open your hands
Receive
I’m free
I’m free
Moral standards in humanity
And this all makes perfect sense to me
Except we can't keep them can we
Not being all we should be
Look at your own self and see
Screaming something I could understand
And somehow we knew me when He said
For anything more than this
I'm the anyone who's desperate
For anything more than this
Not being all we should be
Look at your own self and see
We are all guilty
I am so guilty
I want that person to hear me
Yes, I'm talking to you
If you don't believe then
Lift up your arms
Open your hands
Receive
I’m free
I’m free

well said everyone i totally agree. FLYLEAF ROCKS!!!
This song to me means all of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God romans 3:23 plain and simple It means that this day in age there are moral standars set for christains but we don't follow them and we're all guilty of falling into the worlds standards instead of taking a stand we've become thermometer christains instead of thermastats we conform to whats around instead of changing it!
Well said, I totally agree!
wow taytertot91, great interpretation you certainly did your homework i completely agree this song is pure wonderful
This song pretty much just shows that we are all guilty of not being the best Christians we can be.
"His voice cut through the war in my head Screaming something I could understand And somehow we knew me when He said
Is there anyone who's desperate For anything more than this"
This verse shows that God's voice can penetrate through you wrongs and find you. God can pull you away from your sins and confusion and help make things clear to you.
"Lift up your arms Open your hands Receive I’m free"
This verse is telling people who aren't sure about their feelings towards God to just take a chance and lift up your arms to God. He will find you and free you from the confusion of this world.
guess il attempt the non-christian way, being that myself. the song could be about being guilty of not living our lives as much as we should. Though the he that she refers to is most likely God
Guilty is about how we are all guilty in some way.
"We are all guilty Not being all we should be Look at your own self and see." = We're all guilty and even if you try to hide it, it won't go away. Look at yourself in the mirror and see it.
" His voice cut through the war in my head Screaming something I could understand And somehow we knew me when He said
Is there anyone who's desperate For anything more than this I'm the anyone who's desperate For anything more than this." = Lacey is desperate for God's Love, It's like a teacher giving away a toy and asking who wants it, and Lacey is the first one to raise her hand because she really wants the toy. This is equivalent to these lyrics.
"Nobody move I want that person to hear me Yes, I'm talking to you If you don't believe then Lift up your arms Open your hands Receive I’m free I’m free." = "If you don't believe, come with me, and pray I will pray for you." basically what Lacey is saying to anyone who is struggling. "Open your hands with me and receive His love, If you do then you will be FREE."
