You Can Bring Me Flowers Lyrics

My eyes have dried, my hands are tied
Nothing I can say
If you feel the need to go
I won't stand in your way

Sit and think
Drown in drink
Sing this sad, sad song
You can bring me flowers, baby
When I'm dead and gone

Fate has played his hand so cruel
There ain't nothing I can do
You say you lost your love for me
Me my love for you

Sit and cry
And say goodbye
And sing this sad, sad song
You can bring me flowers, baby
When I'm dead and gone

So when you're lying in his arms
Think of me and know
The choice you made it free and clear
It cost me a heavy toll

Sit and think
Drown in drink
And sing this sad, sad song
You can bring me flowers, baby
When I'm dead and gone

im pretty sure this song is all about a bunch of old guys with big beards who have went through the civil war together and have been best friends for 50 years they probably lost a few friends that they always remember and tell stories about one of the guys has alzheimers and forgets they died but all these guys get together every other night (excluding sundays) and play poker listening to this song THATS what i think its about =D

obviously his love has found another guy, and told him she wants to leave him for the lover... and because of that he is saying if I die because of this its on her head..

I never got the civil war vibe. Just a guy bitter and retaliating against the woman who cheated. He's letting her know what it's done and that someday she will regret it. She won't be able to do anything about it until he's dead and gone. Flowers would be a sign of apology but he doesn't want one- it's over for him!

I can't help but tap (at least) when I hear this song, such an awesome beat!

Wife/ girlfriend cheated on him...I feel as if he is numb to the whole situation... Kinda like he's saying "You'll miss me when I'm gone... but I don't really care anymore... Just leave me alone."

GREAT SONG AND BEAT!

My Interpretation

I'm pretty sure this song is about a man who's girl is leaving him for someone else. As the first lines suggest, he isn't crying or fighting about it, he says, if you want to go, there's the door. You'll regret it.

the next verse he says "you say you lost your love for me, me my love for you" which is presumably this girl's excuse for probably cheating and now leaving him: "we just don't love each other any more, you understand right?" (She's trying to not feel like the bad guy but let's face it, she is).

She probably wants to "stay friends" and what makes the chorus so great is that there's a pause between when he says, "you can bring me flowers babe," and "when I'm dead and gone," that makes it sound at first like he's agreeing to forgive her, with the suggestion being that he recieve flowers as a gesture of her apology, but then he says"...when I'm dead and gone," which is him essentially being sarcastic and saying "as if, talk to you never!" Like, sure you can bring me flowers, but it won't do you any good and you'll never see me again. You made your bed, now lie in it and think of what you gave up.
