dogs Lyrics
i heard it’s getting windy so i’ll
sit and watch you blow
i will chain you to my boat
i will carry you back home
and i won’t say i love you ‘cause it’s
all been said before
let’s not say it anymore
‘cause love nothin’ here’s for sure
they treat us like dogs
so we play along
we bark and we moan
and play them our songs
but when we blow away
and get out of this place
we go down like a shout
and up like a prayer
i heard it’s getting windy and we’ll
all be blown away
did you tell me you’re afraid?
darlin’, you look so afraid
i’m not sure what happens when
everything here ends
but i hope its like they said
and i hope it never ends
they treat us like gold
dug up to be sold
we shine and we shake
assuming our roles
and when we blow away
up over this place
we go down like a shout
and up like a praise
i know its hard to see me, darlin’
let your eyes adjust
if you go blind just trust
you were made out of my dust
i was made out of your dust
and the wind will carry us
in the ocean’s evening gusts
up above the mountain tops
he will have the both of us
he will have the both of us
he will have the both of us
he will have the both of us
sit and watch you blow
i will chain you to my boat
i will carry you back home
all been said before
let’s not say it anymore
‘cause love nothin’ here’s for sure
so we play along
we bark and we moan
and play them our songs
but when we blow away
and get out of this place
we go down like a shout
and up like a prayer
all be blown away
did you tell me you’re afraid?
darlin’, you look so afraid
everything here ends
but i hope its like they said
and i hope it never ends
dug up to be sold
we shine and we shake
assuming our roles
and when we blow away
up over this place
we go down like a shout
and up like a praise
let your eyes adjust
if you go blind just trust
you were made out of my dust
i was made out of your dust
and the wind will carry us
in the ocean’s evening gusts
up above the mountain tops
he will have the both of us
he will have the both of us
he will have the both of us
he will have the both of us

"Goes down like a shout and up like a PRAYER"
"In the Ocean's evening GUSTS"
I could be wrong on those two, but Im pretty sure those are the right lines. This is such a great song....thanks for posting it!
To me, this song is about a guy in love with both nature, and a woman. Not only does he pay tribute to the wonder of the natural world (a world that he is knowingly an intimate part of), but he has the perspective to see through the "crappier" aspects of life and to see the beauty of the love he shares with his partner.
He recognizes that through that love, and the "nature" of things....they will always be together (just like they always have been).
I think it may be a live version (a Detroit radio station appearance) where Michael Nau sings "Who will have the both of us?" as the last line....but Im not sure about the studio version right now.
This song is a "Perfect 10".....give it a listen or two.
thanks for those, that makes more sense. ohhhh man i love this song. everything on hello, dear wind is so tender and just... perfect, is a good word.
i think it could be something to the effect of a guy in the navy leaving his wife back because he is called into duty.
