Got Ma Nuts From A Hippy Lyrics
Well I met her in a bar, the men with big guitars were playin
And I listened with my ears but I couldn’t hear what she was sayin
And I guess she talked with her mind
But didn’t want to seem to unkind so I just laughed
And kept my eyes peeled to the door
Wondering what I was there for
But it’s alright, it’s alright
It’s alright, it’s alright
I got my nuts from a hippy in a camper van on Saturday night
Well I asked if she believed in Adam and Eve the fable
And I guess she would’ve given me an answer if only she was able
And she danced like a medicine man
Drew a crazy picture on my hand and told me
She wanted to change my point of view
Asked me where I was going to
But it’s alright, it’s alright
It’s alright, it’s alright
I got my nuts from a hippy in a camper van on Saturday night
Well she whispered in my ear we got to get us out of
here to the country
I asked her for a ride she took me aside said “try me”
I thought I’m gonna wake pretty soon
In the middle of a Sunday afternoon just dreamin
And it was warm in the back of her van
When she made me a real man
And I listened with my ears but I couldn’t hear what she was sayin
And I guess she talked with her mind
But didn’t want to seem to unkind so I just laughed
And kept my eyes peeled to the door
Wondering what I was there for
It’s alright, it’s alright
I got my nuts from a hippy in a camper van on Saturday night
And I guess she would’ve given me an answer if only she was able
And she danced like a medicine man
Drew a crazy picture on my hand and told me
She wanted to change my point of view
Asked me where I was going to
It’s alright, it’s alright
I got my nuts from a hippy in a camper van on Saturday night
here to the country
I asked her for a ride she took me aside said “try me”
I thought I’m gonna wake pretty soon
In the middle of a Sunday afternoon just dreamin
And it was warm in the back of her van
When she made me a real man

Has anyoone thought maybe she did him so hard his first time that he cried? cuz from what i know of hippies is that all they do is screw and take drugs while loving the earth...just a thought though =/
brilliant song
obviously (i think) about losing his virginity "i got my nuts" must mean like 'earned' his manhood by having sex, and obviously this girl is the hippy in the camper van. puts across well the thoughts and nerves and stuff when you're going to do it for the first time. or at least i think it does, i'm still a virgin, being only 15 =P
Brilliant song
"to get yer nuts" is a Scottish or more so Glasgow saying for a guy to have had sex ;)
ye i think more glasgow, cos im from scotland and we dont say thatround my way =P
The "she made me cry" part isn't in this :O oh no!! it is meant to be on the end and it says "I got my nuts from a hippy in a camper van on Saturday night" again too!
it can mean his first time is ruined because it was with some hippy in a camper van. I thought it was about his first real break up. The bit thats at the end but not in this, is ''she made me cry'' repeated so many times after ''she made me a real man''. Now after he's cried over her and understands love more, he is more mature, and got the balls to accept break ups, thats how he is a real man, thats how he got his nuts.
yup, everyones pretty much summed it up as far as i can tell :) and i think the got my nuts bit is a glasgow thing cause we deffinatly dont say it in edinburgh :D
I've got a questioned for those in the british lingo. What exactly is meant by "and she danced like a medicine man" how exactly do medicine men dance?
a medicine man is "a man supposed to have supernatural powers of curing disease and controlling spirits." ( usually thought to be Indians)
So i think that dancing like a medicine man would be to dance in a way the controls men
You've all basically nailed it, I think.
The line about the "medicine man" is there, I believe, to identify the female in the song as a hippy sort of person. Think of a hippy on the dance floor.... they'd be all nature-y and Native American-y. Like a medicine man of Native American past.
