Down the Hillside Lyrics

The pages is our pale
Books are unwritten
The house is fore sale
It's warm in the blood
Cold in the rain
It's easy to stay
But if you follow the void
it will lead you the way

Down the hillside
to the cemetery
To bury the past
Down the hillside

It's warm in the blood
Cold in the rain
It's easy to stay
But if you follow the void
it will lead you the way

Down the hillside
to the cemetery
To bury the past
Down the hillside

Down the hillside
to the cemetery
To bury the past
Down the hillside

The correct lyrics are most likely to be- "The pages are pale Books are unwritten The house is for sale" And as tutuman mentioned, "voice" insted of "void".

Some of these lyrics are wrong. Such as "If you follow the voice" instead of "void"

There are other ones, I'm pretty sure. The first line, particularly.

I think these words are referring to the saying "blood is thicker than water" in respect to mourning after a loss. Blood represents family and water, or rain, represent friends perhaps. Meaning, family make a better support system than friends when dealing with death. Because the blood is warm and the water is cold. My interpretation of "it's easy to stay" is; it's going to be easier to "stay" in mourning than to move on. Notice the first word of the pre-chorus is "but". So staying (in mourning) is against the speakers advise.

I'm my opinion, I think it's fairly obvious that this song is talking about moving on with one's life after the death of a family member. It's a family member because of the line "the house is for sale". I went ahead and broke it down line by line but not in order. "The pages are pale" as opposed to yellowed with age, is referring to youth. "The books are unwritten" the lives of the people involved have yet to be defined. Notice the plural "books" as in more than one life. Books = lives. I think parents of these youthful siblings (I imagine age ranges of 17 to 25 but idk) have died. Because "the house is for sale". That's all I got. Love to hear an interpretation of "the voice". Whose voice? José Gonzaléz voice is too beautiful to follow anyone else's?
