Driving South Lyrics

I have this friend who was born again
Every morning he wakes
Relieved of his sins
Oh, after hours of losing himself
He gets to his knees and he prays for his health

And to the palm trees
And driving south its in the waves
Where we found ourself back at the ocean
To meet with dirt where we will wait and find ourselves
And we will talk in ways that life has been so mean
And see there's always someone, always steppin' on me
Oh please, please, please
Tell me

Oh wake me, wake me
But don't tell me i'm lazy when I pull the covers back over my face
Oh wake me, wake me
Cuz we're all goin' crazy and we're always preachin' that everyones wrong

And to the palm trees
And driving south its in the waves
Where we found ourselves back at the ocean
To meet with dirt where we will wait
To find ourselves so we can talk in ways that life has been so mean
And see there's always someone, always stepping on me
Oh please, please, please
Tell me

When I listen to this song I kind of think of those people who try to preach to you about how good and religious they are but then they end up complaining about how hard life is. And I think the "wake me" part is about how people can try to get you to be good like them but sometimes you have to just know how to relax and not get caught up in that stuff. I love this song.

This song is about Ace and Sergio and how they would go surfing together. "To meet with dirt where we will wait", Sergio is "Dirt". A band member told me this themself.

Song Meaning
