And we wait above a road.
We're turning to go home.
And the silence from the side of the car,
Tells me everything and how we are.
'Cause there's no more trying to make this so right.
There's no more trying tonight.

And you know it's not so easy when
You're all alone,
And I wonder if I'm alone
In your head.

I know something is wrong,
I just don't know what to do.
You say it's only me, and that I'm so perfect for you.
I don't want to try no more,
I don't want to make this right.
I just want you to be true to me one time.

And you know it's not so easy when
You're all alone,
And I wonder if I'm alone
In your head.

Twelve days gone by since I have saw you last,
I'll give this one more try,
I'll give it all my best, and I'll ask
What could you be doing that is so much fun?
Without me by your side,
Without me by your side.
And I will take a step back, and I'll let you ahead,
And I will take a step away, and see if you come back,
Because there's no more trying to make this so right,
There's no more trying,
There's no more trying tonight.

We'll never be the same,
We will never be the same,
We will never be the same,
We will never be the same,
Until you're done.

play this song while you're driving...it's very atmospheric.

I think this is the perfect song to listen to after a hard breakup. It may be the only thing that keeps you from going insane it makes you feel independent.

"and the silence from the side of the car tells me everything, and how we are"

its when words have lost all sincerity when the silence speaks the loudest. i think everyone's been there at least once.

there's always hope in the darkest of places.. even ace got back with the same girlfriend he wrote this about.

i think this is a song about an ending relationship. in the beginning it talks about how hes in a car and theres an awkward silence, so im going to assume that this is when she first told him she met somebody new. and then "and you know it's not so easy when you're all alone" sort of shows that she met somebody new, because hes alone and she isnt. and hes the one thats thinking about her. he saw her 12 days ago, and hes asking what shes doing thats fun that she hasn't cared about him for 12 days and hes going to try one last time to try to make her understand what shes losing, but she gives him up anyway and now he doesn't want to care about the relationship he just wants her to realize the mistake that she made. "we will never be the same again until you're done" fucking beautiful. i think it is about having hope, but you eventually do give up. i know i did.

the line " i will take a step back and i'll let you ahead and i will take a step away and see if you come back" makes me realize the only way to tell if someone truly cares about you is to leave them and see if they come back...because if they dont they never really loved you.

Sigh. I'm a big "tough"(as viewed by others) "emotionally distant"(as viewed by others) sometime egotistical teenager. But everytime i listen to this in my car, i cry(well my eyes tear up and i try to act like its just some junk in the a/c)...i love this song. The worst part is that a girl i know saw me in the car...and when she asked me about it, i just said "listen to this song."

to me this song reminds me of a relationship.. your sitting there and its an akward silence and you know its over. but you still love that person but theres no hope anymore.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
