Go-Go Gadget Gospel Lyrics

Pump up the peculiar
While I yell unique
Aah, let me show you right here
Hey, ahaha
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah

I'm well on my way
I'm almost everything
And this is my day
You make me want to say

I'm free! Look at me!
Behold everything I'm allowed to see
Free! Come and see
Na, na, na, na, na na na

The shapeless, formless, heart is enormous
Bore this, I've worn this, no never what the norm is
Come hear this, it's fearless
Contrast, colour, prisms, so warming
Listen and love it

I'm free! Look at me!
Freedom in hi-fidelity
Free! Come and see
Na, na, na, na, na na na

What you waiting on?
I want action, passion, smiling, laughing
Yielding, feeling, helping, healing
Introduce your neighbour to your saviour

I'm free! Look at me!
Freedom in hi-fidelity
Free!
Na, na, na, na, na na na

I think this song is about independent music. From the lines "If your wondering what you look like, look at me" right at the beginning of the song (which isn't listed here by the way) it's talking about how he is saying that all artists seem to look the same now a days. "Pump up the peculiar, while I yell unique" telling people to listen to the unique music he is singing, trying to break the mold of the dime a dozen pop artists and what not. He goes on to tell pretty much how it's made, that music shouldn't be just sort of slapped together like in an assembly line, but from the heart ("heart is enormous") and how that if you make it that way, people will want to listen to you ("come hear this, it's fearless"), and how it will actually be more like art ("contrast, colour, prism so warming"). Finally, he mentions that he is free, free from record labels things that have generally been seen as squelching artist freedom to produce whatever music they wish too. Just my 2 cents.

Cmon guys, this is a gospel song!! He is free from sin, and he is excited about it. I mean cmon, the last verse hes sayin to other Christians cmon and live your faith, celebrate it, tell people about it, don't hide it!

While I'm not sure of the religious affliation of either member of Gnarls Barkley, I think Locheim's interp. is a very good guess, and I agree with it.

I think that galactor's interpretation is right, to a certain extent. I think that the song declares Gnarls Barkley's independence, and the uniqueness of their music. "Pump up the peculiar/ While I yell unique" I think that the song primarily focuses on the freedom that this music, and perhaps the act of making music, offers people. I do think that there is an obvious reference to christianity, but that it is not an endorsement of the religion, but rather a comparison. "Introduce your neighbour to your saviour" would normally be interpreted as "tell others about your faith", but I think that this is not their intention. I think that, in this instance, the "saviour" is music, and that the message is "tell others about this music [or just music in general]". This wording allows music to be compared to religion- declaring that music IS their religion (metaphorically speaking). Such a statement would be very powerful (and rather poetic) if I am right. It would also suggest that music has the power to save you, I suppose. That would be supported by the earlier line "Yieldin', feelin', helpin', healin' ", as well.

I think this is a brilliant song about expressing whatever you feel into music and making into a true art form unlike so many singers/bands who just sing about shallow topics in the hopes of making it big.

"Bore this, I've worn this, no never what the norm is"

I think it's saying like 'it doesn't matter what people want to hear. This is what I have to say. This music isn't just music, it's part of me. It doesn't have to be "normal" or what's "popular".'

"Contrast, colour, prisms, so warmin"

He's showing his music as an art form rather than just a song.

"Introduce your neighbour to your saviour"

Like PureSilver said, it's not a reference to a literal savior (Jesus, or what not), but music in itself being a saviour, a religion.

Music can be an art. Let it be free from cliches. Let it be unique. Let it be something you're passionate about. Don't care what people will think about it.

OK. I'm done. The end.

i believe this song is speaking about being individual, different but happy about it and free from caring about it. seems as though he is speaking out to get people to share this uniqueness with others.

Sorry, that should read - 'Come HERE this is fearless'
