Re: Your Brains Lyrics

Hey Tom, it's Bob, from the office down the hall
Good to see you buddy, how've you been?
Thing have been okay for me except that I'm a zombie now
I really wish you'd let us in
I think I speak for all of us when I say I understand
Why you folks might hesitate to submit to our demand
But here's an FYI: you're all gonna die screaming

All we want to do is eat your brains
We're not unreasonable, I mean, no one's gonna eat your eyes
All we want to do is eat your brains
We're at an impasse here, maybe we should compromise
If you open up the door
We'll all come inside and eat your brains

I don't want to nitpick, Tom, but is this really your plan?
Spend your whole life locked inside a mall?
Maybe that's okay for now but someday you'll be out of food and guns
And then you'll have to make the call
I'm not surprised to see you haven't thought it through enough
You never had the head for all that bigger picture stuff
But Tom, that's what I do, and I plan on eating you slowly

All we want to do is eat your brains
We're not unreasonable, I mean, no one's gonna eat your eyes
All we want to do is eat your brains
We're at an impasse here, maybe we should compromise
If you open up the doors
We'll all come inside and eat your brains

I'd like to help you Tom, in any way I can
I sure appreciate the way you're working with me
I'm not a monster Tom, well, technically I am
I guess I am

I've got another meeting Tom, maybe we could wrap it up
Know we'll get to common ground somehow
Meanwhile I'll report back to my colleagues who were chewing on the doors
I guess we'll table this for now
I'm glad to see you take constructive criticism well
Thank you for your time I know we're all busy as hell
And we'll put this thing to bed
When I bash your head open

All we want to do is eat your brains
We're not unreasonable, I mean, no one's gonna eat your eyes
All we want to do is eat your brains
We're at an impasse here, maybe we should compromise
If you open up the door
We'll all come inside and eat your brains

Xaq27, I'm pretty sure the brains/eyes line is mostly just there for the funny but I think in the song Bob the zombie is trying (rather unsuccessfully) to assure Tom that they are not bloodthirsty fiends but reasonable zombiefolk. Sure, they hunger incessantly for brains but they're not monsters who run around eating people's eyeballs. Which for some reason (perhaps the fact that he's incapable of higher brain functions do to decomposition) he sees eating someone's eyes as a much greater offense that simply devouring their brains.

This song is hilarious. . .I find myself humming it at work. I love the way he uses all kinds of work jargon in a song about zombies.

I'm pretty confident that zombies aren't capable of rational thought. You appear to be the one with the handicap if you are criticizing them for their logic. I wonder if that makes your brain taste better or worse...

it could be satirical.

the zombies have no brains, no mind of their own (they just wanna make more zombies), they dont make art, they dont entertain or help ppl and they want the non-zombie to be just like them. its like they're saying 'you have to become a drone to the system, it WILL happen sooner or later no matter what you do'

wow... people are taking this song waaayyy too seriously. zombies don't exist, remember?

if you want to know what a zombie would do anyway you need to read "The Zombie Survival Guide" otherwise shutup it doesn't have to make sense it's just a song.

I think the point of all the office jargon here is to say that office workers are actually zombies.

Did anyone else think of the remake of Dawn of the Dead when the song goes:

"I don't want to nitpick, Tom, but is this really your plan? Spend your whole life locked inside a mall? Maybe that's okay for now but someday you'll be out of food and guns"

I instantly saw the Mall used in the movie, and everyone living there. I like zombie films.

3Hackbug is right. This song is not meant to be taken seriously. Zombies don't exist. Alot of Coulton's songs are just meant to be funny. So yeah, this song is just about a rediculous scenario that would never happen.

not meant to be taken seriously, nice office jargon gives it an "office space of the dead" feel. great song. and it's a ridiculous scenario that "has" never happened, yet. :)

oh, and gotta give props where props are due, the Mall reference can easily be dated back to Romero's original Dawn of the Dead, and that's what springs to mind when I hear that line :)
