That Old Pair of Jeans Lyrics
All you used to do was put me down
But I found a way to pick myself up off the ground
And all you used to do was criticise me
But now I found the good and I emphasise ya see
You would always get so sensitive
And try to turn your transgressions into my guiltiness
But now I'm certain of the way I live
And what I'm responsible for in this twisted game
And it's such a shame
That you try to make pain
Another word for my name
Whether giving or receiving
It's one the same
Just one more link
In your long-ass chain
But it's time to break
This frame and my strengthful will
Time to jump off this negative cycle we've built
Gave my heart
But my self-respect you won't steal
Now it's time to let ya go if you can't heal or fill me now
Sometimes I think maybe we'll patch it all up
Like a favourite pair of jeans that you won't give up on
And I hope maybe one of these arguments will make up
And start again like when we started this up
Back when everything was fresh
And every moment a blessing
I'd laugh at all of your jokes
You'd listen to my suggestions
One mind, one soul
With common decimation
Now we can't help but fight over the direction
But I found a way to pick myself up off the ground
And all you used to do was criticise me
But now I found the good and I emphasise ya see
And try to turn your transgressions into my guiltiness
But now I'm certain of the way I live
And what I'm responsible for in this twisted game
That you try to make pain
Another word for my name
Whether giving or receiving
It's one the same
Just one more link
In your long-ass chain
But it's time to break
This frame and my strengthful will
Time to jump off this negative cycle we've built
Gave my heart
But my self-respect you won't steal
Now it's time to let ya go if you can't heal or fill me now
Like a favourite pair of jeans that you won't give up on
And I hope maybe one of these arguments will make up

what are the lyrics with a womang singing near the end of the song? something like "give me back - you've got to. . ."??
It looks like these lyrics are missing a verse, between the lines "Now it's time to let ya go if you can't heal or fill me now" and "Sometimes I think maybe we'll patch it all up":
try2imaginethis, Fatboy Slim did this song on Letterman the other night and it was a lot easier to discern that the backing singers were saying "You've got to slow down". In the album version it sounds like a mix of that and "You've got to get down".
Thank you JohnnySkidmark! I thought I heard "Don't let 'em go/get by" after the "You've got to slow/get down part" now that I was thinking about the slow down part.
the last verse is perfection. i think its about two people who are both too stubborn to stop the fighting. maybe theyre both too immature to shut up and make it work. he hopes they will recover from it all one day and start over. its a good song .. imo to end a relationship on..
