New York Minute Lyrics

Feelin' better now
You must be only waitin' for something
And there is no way out
You must be out there lookin' for nothing
Holdin' up can't you please
Come back down nowhere near
Can't back out can't you see
You got the best but you gotta believe

Hey, hey now the New York minute can't last forever
Hey now, we hurt each other more than ever
Hey now...

Feelin' better now
But I just can't get it together
And it wears her out
She must be out there lookin' for something
Don't go now don't you please
Come back down somewhere near
Break me out let me bleed
Got the best but I gotta believe

Hey, hey now the New York minute can't last forever
Hey now, we hurt each other more than ever
Hey now, keep this in the past forever
Hey now...

Hey, hey now the New York minute can't last forever
Hey now, we hurt each other more than ever
Hey now, keep this in the past forever
I know it, I know more than ever we live in two worlds apart
I don't wanna wake if it's over we live in two worlds apart
Hey now...

I discovered this song playing Fifa '07. It's about a guy who's feeling down and it's hurting a relationship he's in. He is desperate to keep her because "she's the best," but confident that it will work out if she just hangs in there. He feels that he's "the best" for her. The sound of the song is so cool because it reflects his belief in this relationship. As for Fifa '07, I think the "we live in two worlds apart" and "I don't want to wake 'till it's over" lines define the essence of the world cup.

this song is so amazing, if only for how catchy it is. but i think there is a meaning to it, about love for a city and and maybe being in love with someone there, and how it's never going to last forever.

Actually forget what I said about the "I dont want to wake till it's over" line. I had the wrong lyrics and wrong interpretation for that

the song has zero to do with New York, A New York minute is another connotation for a shot time.(a short time can't last forever) basically he gets dumped and he thinks its just a temporary thing, he thinks its a New York Minute breakup. As the song goes on he seems more accepting of it, "you got the best but you gotta beleive" becomes "got the best but i gotta beleive".

This is such a fun song to listen to. The entire song builds up to the last couple of lines which I think are the best of the song. The singer has a tone of despair and resignation through the last two lines and even the chorus before a little bit.

U R SO RIGHT HTF01 MAT JOLY THE LEAD VOCALIST BUILDS U UP THROUGH THE WHOLE SONG AND GOES HARD AT THE TWO LAST LINES... THIS SONG IS GREAT.
