I think you know
Because it's old news
The people you love
Are hard to find
So I think if I
Were in your shoes
I would be kind

I look out for you
Come rain, come shine
What good does it do?
I guess I'm a toy that is broken
I guess we're just older now

I want to stay
Another season
See summer upon
This sorry land
So don't dust off your gun
Without a reason
You understand

I look out for you
Come rain, come shine
What good does it do?
I guess I'm a toy that is broken
I guess we're just older now

Who says the river can't leave its waters?
Who says you walk in a line?
Who says the city change its borders?
Who says you're mine?

I look out for you
Come rain, come shine
What good does it do?
I guess I'm a record you're tired of
I guess we're just older now
I guess I'm a toy that is broken
I guess we're just older now

General Commenti agree with bloc party. at first i really wasn't sure about this ong at all but the more i listened to it and got my interpretation of it, i really loved it. basically everything that block party said. you find someone that you can finally love and then they make it so difficult for you. he is willing to give his partner everything and they're just not interested. "i want to stay another season" ... he wants more time for their relationship, again the other person won't have it. by the end he's realizing that its best for it to be over no matter how much he doesn't want that. idk thats my interpretation of it. i really loveee this song and the entire "under the iron sea" cd.

General CommentNot sure if I like this song yet
Sounds like he's always there for his partner but she ignores it.
Broken toy is like being disgarded - pushed aside
Like they have grown apart - things arent the same anymore

General CommentYes, most of it is pretty self explanatory, but what does

So don't dust off your gun
    Without a reason
    You understand

    mean?

General CommentI love this song, the lyrics are very good, for me it's like, when you love a girl and she gets tired of you, but you still care for her, "I guess I'm a toy that is broken".

General CommentI have actually heard quite a bit that the song is about the relationship between Tim and Richard-it was written at the time when the Hopes & Fears had just ended, and they were sick of each other-it seems to be about a deconstruction of a friendship or other kind of relationship

General CommentWorst song on 'Under the Iron Sea' hands down. It sounds a lot like 'Pyramid Song' by Radiohead, but it's not nearly as engaging. It's too long, too.

General CommentFilmguy is right, it's about Tim and Tom. They apparently had huge communication problems as a band. I guess Tim felt kinda let down.. he just cares about his friend and wants to get over the dark times.

General CommentI love the sound of this song. The lyrics, too. If it is about a guy loving a girl who doesnt care about him, then hell knows i know what thats like...
