A Protest in Lines Too Thin to Read Lyrics

a parent walks in on a child cutting them self
laughs and says youre silly dear, youre only hurting yourself.
so cut deep or dont cut at all
are u listening?
i dont care what your parents tell you dont cut at all
oh please be listening..
i dont care what those bastards tell you dont cut at all.

youre staggering in you find a finger gagging yourself you heave and say im not like those pigs. i dont care whats good for my health.
controlling the room with tilted thighs
it comes to me as no surprise that i even flicker on my own

feed the one thats closer
as youre flickering on
feed the one thats closed
as you flicker

starving artist you will
i said it before
shed your burdens and build on

you shed your clothes in spite and whisper i make the demands.

well im doubting my portrait of skin
but i sure as hell wont find limbs down my throat
the substance of wait defines the beauty laced behind the pride of my even scales they stand alone

so cut
its not living deeply
cut
no, not at all

you shed your clothes in spite and whisper i make the demands.

you bare these lines to cleanse your system
you bare these lines despite the symptoms

.we wont give up now.

emo kids, unloving parents, not giving up

Basically it's a summary of what most unloved/unaccepted kids go through. "We wont give up now." Starts off with a sad story and ends with a hopeful ending.

Um.. Being an emo, bulemic girl (or so I would assume..?). She's thinking her life sucks (it makes no reference to any real reason why) so she cuts and starves herself (so she won't be like 'those pigs', and doesn't care if it's bad for her health). Her parents think it's not serious. The voice is telling her to disregard her parents and their negative attitude that seems to egg her on. Then it tells her to either cut deep (enough for some damage, possibly death?), or don't cut at all.. In the end, she decides to not give up on life. That's my understanding of the song; I don't understand the stanza with "portrait of skin"..

potrait of skin is the stuff she cuts on herself thats why the voice says cut deep or not at all shes covering herself with "art".

It's basically saying that just because one thing doesn't look your so-call perfect (in this case, how their body looks) now doesn't mean it won't be in given time, and that only time can change such a thing - not the forced sickness by shoving your finger down your throat.

I don't think you guys are quite getting it here. This is obviously a song about a person with low self esteem, and horrid parents... Also portrait of skin is your apperance, and all he's saying is that he won't force himself to look a certain way just because people believe that beauty is only skin deep. And when they say cut deep or don't cut at all, they're basically saying either kill yourself or don't. Ciao
