Dorothy Dreams of Tornadoes Lyrics

You said we'd leave next year
Each year for thirteen years
Each year gets harder to hear
It's getting harder now just to stay in love

And now our roots grown deep
Beneath these barren streets
I had the darkest dreams
The city's pipes and wires
Were through our nerves and veins
And those nights after a double shift
I feel it
The dashed plans you never dared to live
They used to light up your eyes
Those bulbs have long burned out

Let our tornado tear through
Let it tear straight through our roof
And let the rain pour in
I'll scream, "Babe, this is it!"
We'll leave the house in ruins
If we escape right now
We just might make it out

And this city, this city's killing us
This city, this city's killing us
This city, this city's killing us
It's killing us
It's killing us!

This city, this city's killing us
This city, this city's killing us
This city, this city's killing us
It's killing us
It's killing us
It's killing us!

First post!

This is one of my favourite songs from Happy hollow, I'm surprised no one else has made a comment yet.

I love the song, but I don't see the need for both "Dorothy" songs on this album. They're pretty much about the same thing.

dorothy.. stop dreaming and let everything be. deal with your problems. stop making plans just to break them because you think everything will get better on its own. let the tornadoes tear through your reality so you can learn from the experience and move on and grow up. WAKE UP. :)

A lot of the songs cover similar territory...Rise Up and Retreat both harshly denounce religions, At Conception and Bad Sects both deal with covering up scandals in the priesthood. They're completely different musically though, they're all necessary.

No, this song is different from Dorothy at Fourty in many ways. This one is sung by Dorothy, not to her, and I'm thinking that Dorothy is the lyrical I of Kasher himself on this album. It's about how everyone else is stagnating and that stagnation is a horrible thing. Only Dorothy is the only one to recognize that, that's why she wants to get out until it's entirely too late - but this is refered to as "dreams" in the other Dorothy song. These two songs are basically about two different ways of life: the conservative one (and I don't mean politically), where you are keen to keep the status quo, to die in the city you were born in, and the life of wanderlust, where you can't feel happy once you've arrived somewhere. It's also about childhood dreams in a way that most of us dream of going away when we've grown up, but few really dare to do it.

it has to be dorothy from the wizard of oz. hence the tornadoes. that puzzled me for a while.

wow i'm not sure why i havn't commented on this before..brilliant song and i love the band..when people ask me what they sound like, the closest i can get seems to be "um..kinda..heavy jazz" close enough, eh? yar this song is about being stuck somehwhere and needing a massive kick up the arse (a tornado hehe) to get out. xXx
