I like this song.
I don't exactly know what the song is about, but I love his voice/emotion on "and sometimes, sometimes I wanna be.. I scream that I wanna be anyone but me."
i went to his show last night and he said he wrote this song while he was on a train, admiring an older woman who was "way out of my league". it is about wanting someone and the fear and yearning that comes along with wanting them to want you back...kinda
gorgeous. i'm amy too. i thought the name was too common to have a song written for a girl by it, but am glad to find such a pretty one for it. joshua radin is brilliant.
amy is a generic name so it can really be about any girl. it's about falling in love and you know you're never goint to get her.
It sounds to me like he's writing a song about a girlfriend who is trying to take control of him creatively, so he feels. She's telling him to write about things other than the overdone topic of love and heartbreak and he's saying, "Write what you know and this is what I know". He's trying to tell her that love is the subject he knows most and feels he can write about best while she's wanting him to write on topics she deems more profound.
