I've Seen the Love Lyrics
Drive around this country pretending like we're famous
Wearing our disguises of the people we are not
And I know
You're just letting go
Soft Evading (?)
After all this time don't pretend like you don't know me
Treat me like a stranger, Like some bum off of the street
Don't you know
We were once like gold
Set in concrete
You, You were so confused
You had much too much to lose
You let it put you out
Now you're leaving
I, I've seen the love
And I let it slip away
And I, I've been so lonely
So much I could not say
And are, are you still just ok?
If instruments were ornaments, aesthetic with no purpose
hanging on your wall: out of tune, without a song
don't you know
we ain’t got too long
So let's start singing
have you lost your passion well, here take some of mine
you can use my skeleton but don’t drink all my wine
you have sung
you sung your voice away
no one listened
no, heaven help us all
who wanted to let it go
stuck inside a corpse
no heart beating
I, I've seen the love
And I let it slip away
And I, I've been so lonely
So much I could not say
And are, are you still just ok?
I, I've seen the love
And I let it slip away
And I, I've been so lonely
So much I could not say
And are, are you still just ok?
Wearing our disguises of the people we are not
And I know
You're just letting go
Soft Evading (?)
Treat me like a stranger, Like some bum off of the street

i think maybe the "soft evading" should be "softly fading"? i'm not sure.
I am tempted to comment on each of Dondero's songs. Several times. It's ridiculous this guy gets no recognition, while so much terrible music is out there. I think it's just a symptom of how crappy our society is.

Yeah, i'm pretty sure it's softly fading, but can't be certain. Can't be bothered looking it up.
Amazing song. Dondero really deserves more comments.
This song is so beautiful. I listened to it over and over again when my boyfriend and I broke up, because it really seemed to ring true to my life at the time. It still does. So wonderful.
this has to be one of my favorite songs by david dondero. or i feel like i can relate to it.
"I, I've seen the love And I let it slip away And I, I've been so lonely So much I could not say And are, are you still just ok? "
that's an amzing stanza, even if it's simple read...
anyone else think the bass line in this song sounds almost identical to that of Bright Eyes' "Another Travelin' Song"?
thats because its an extremely common bass line in folk and country style music.
