there are some churches where i felt the love, emotion oh so sweet
and there's some churches where i've been so bored i've drifted off to sleep
well i have seen the light and the power of the church of st john coltrane
but in the chambers of darkness swear i've felt the higher spiritual plane

there are some chapels that have brought the people way down to their knees
and there are churches that have claimed to save the people from disease
but there's this place in houston texas, seems like the perfect church to me
reminds me of your heart and how comforting a cold black void could be

your heart is like the rothko chapel, cold dark void yet simple and intriguing
somewhat comforting, got me believing almost anything
there was this line by charlie parker, somewhat worth remembering:
"if you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn, chances are you'll never be reborn"

my religion is in nature, art and literacy
my religion is in science, music and poetry
my religion is the mountain, my church is in the seas
my religion is to love you yet my church is entropy
my religion is in your eyes but my church ain't organised
my faith is in the sweetness that you might realise
but my faith it could be fiction, my faith could not be smart
my religion is the weather, yeah, my church is in your heart

but your heart is like the rothko chapel, cold dark void yet simple and intriguing
somewhat comforting, got me believing almost anything
there was this line by charlie parker, probably worth remembering:
"if you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn, chances are you'll never be reborn"

this song is rad... if you not seen the actual rothko chapel then you should google it.. its architecturally amazing, i can only imagine that being there would blow your mind... with a lack of all the decadence that is usually present in churches you would be able to think, reflect and ponder... you would be able to rest your mind.... just thought it would be good to add that in the charlie parker quote, the horn he is referring to is his instrument, saxophone but it could be deeper... your horn could be your mouth or your person...
