i think this song means that she lives in a small town, and she's fallen in love..but maybe because of religous rights "You slug, you slug your priest"
they can't be in-love. and everyone is trying to break them up. and they need to be together in secret.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the song is about drug us e= "I've got lots of pills and I like to eat them up" . I agree with the small town aspect which confines and leaves a person with nothing to do and no where to progress."Well you're contagious and I got no light" = Drugs and no opportunities.
This instill of ignorance could be linked to the title(Jesus and Austria) because both (to a person of no education in a small christian town) exist to that person but there is no proof but they blindly agree without truly understanding " Stab at that empty space" if you ask an un-poorly educated person to locate Austria they will not be able to anymore than they can locate or explain their religion "What's the use of trying to find us" which causes the whole "You slug your priest" = ignorance "when your just gonna give this up"= usless to try to understand or progress
And to escape the terrible fate that the person will inevitably face they turn to drugs: "I like and empty bottle"
