Under A Floorboard World Lyrics
i got your secret
and i sure ain't gonna keep it
i've got your secret
and i sure ain't gonna keep it
i'm in the know
and i sure do mean to reap it
i got your secret
and i sure ain't gonna keep it
under a floorboard world
under a floorboard world
ooh, oOoh
i got your secret
and i sure ain't gonna keep it
i got your secret
and i sure ain't gonna keep it
i'm in the know
and i sure do mean to reap it!
i got your secret
and i sure ain't gonna keep it
under a floorboard world
under a floorboard world
under a floorboard world
under a floorboard world
ooh, oOoh...
and i sure ain't gonna keep it
i've got your secret
and i sure ain't gonna keep it
i'm in the know
and i sure do mean to reap it
i got your secret
and i sure ain't gonna keep it
under a floorboard world
under a floorboard world
ooh, oOoh
i got your secret
and i sure ain't gonna keep it
i got your secret
and i sure ain't gonna keep it
i'm in the know
and i sure do mean to reap it!
i got your secret
and i sure ain't gonna keep it
under a floorboard world
under a floorboard world
under a floorboard world
under a floorboard world
ooh, oOoh...

No comments? This is one of the best in my opinion! May not be as deep as the other stuff, but its definitely good to stick on when you're angry. The meaning is fairly obvious.
I think Katie's metaphor - 'Under a floorboard world' means she is living life in her own world, hearing the noise from above, which is a claustrophobic state. (In this song.) It sounds like a fight to get upstairs.
The first thing I thought of, in regards to the title, was cockroaches. Like how people who don't keep secrets and betray other people to reap the benefits are considered vile and pathetic, like insects.
But now I think of Edgar Allen Poe's The TellTale Heart. I can't remember the story very well, but I'm pretty sure that the narrator hid the body of his victim under the floorboards. Then he went crazy thinking he heard the heartbeat from under the floor and told everybody what he did because he couldn't take it. So, the song is what the narrator is hearing as he's going crazy. The victim's heartbeat is sort of threatening, saying, "I'm here under the floor... I know your secret, you killed me... I'm going to reveal it..."
So, going with that... she could be saying to someone who did something very vile to her, "I know what you did to me, I'm going to tell everyone." Just my thoughts, I have no idea if they are anywhere near the right track.
