Jelena Lyrics
My friend
She tipped over
Out of childhood into sadness
She’s always shining
But nevertheless
Her beautiful heart is drowned in grief
Sugar horse, lives inside
Like a friend
In need
Far and wide she’ll gaze
Upon the flowers bloom
Jaded, her mind in a daze
From the medicine gloom
They leave her with her friend
A force of nature filled with strength
Sugar horse, lives inside
Like a friend
In need
She tipped over
Out of childhood into sadness
She’s always shining
But nevertheless
Her beautiful heart is drowned in grief
Like a friend
In need
Upon the flowers bloom
Jaded, her mind in a daze
From the medicine gloom
A force of nature filled with strength
Like a friend
In need

Hmm. Anti-depressants? I know people like this... Wonderful people who've been through too much, who can't cope with all the wickedness they've seen...
I don't understand "sugar horse" though. Is it a reference to the medication? What makes it a sugar horse? =/ Confusing phrase.
I have a theory, I have no idea how accurate it is.
Horses are considered symbols of power. The horse being power fits with "A force of nature filled with strength". I think that the "sugar horse, a friend in need" refers to antidepressants appearing to give the patient strength, but are really feeding off of them in ways, especially by clouding their mind (Her mind in a glaze, from the medicine gloom).
It could also be illegal drugs that someone is "self medicating" with to get through their days, sugar being cocaine, and horse being power, which would make sense if the "sugar horse, a friend in need" were the part of her craving it.
Both would fit, but I could be completely off. Personally, I think the first definition is more likely.
Great song, i think it talks about self medicating and depression.
